Bio


The Japanese soprano, born in Tokyo, studies at the at the Tokyo University of the Arts, obtaining her bachelor’s degree in classical voice, and her master’s degree in opera. She is the winner of a number of important awards, as well as vocal competitions in Japan.

Ms Aragaki debuts as Susanna in The marriage of Figaro (Le Nozze di Figaro) under the baton of M˚ Hanns Martin Schneidt in Tokyo, as well as in numerous other roles in Japan, including: Adina (The Elixir of Love / L’Elisir d’Amore), Giulietta (The Capulets and the Montagues / I Capuleti e i Montecchi), Carolina (The Secret Marriage / Il Matrimonio Segreto), and Monica (Menotti’s The Medium). She sings in Gianni Schicchi at the New National Theatre in Tokyo, under M˚ Hikonori Kikuchi, and, following her graduation, interprets Gretel (Hansel and Gretel / Hänsel und Gretel) under M˚ Yutaka Sado.

Having been awarded the prestigious annual “Artist Abroad” scholarship by the Government of Japan, Ms Aragaki travels to Italy in 2008. There she is admitted to the Opera Studio of the Accademia Santa Cecilia in Rome to work under Mme Renata Scotto, and becomes a member of the Young Artists Programme at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. After this experience, Ms Aragaki decides to settle in Italy and continues her vocal studies under the guidance of Mme Mariella Devia, and Mme Janet Perry.

Following this, Ms Aragaki is Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni at the Teatro Consorziale in Budrio (Bo), and performs The Diary of One Who Disappeared by Janáček under M˚ Gustav Kuhn in Bolzano. She debuts as Liu in Turandot under M˚ Gianluigi Gelmetti in Tokyo, sings Egmont (Beethoven) under M˚ Hubert Soudant at the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra’s Summer Festival, as well as Musetta (La Bohème) under M˚ Kazushi Ono. In 2012, she interprets Sofia in Il Signor Bruschino (Rossini) at the Piccolo Festival in Udine, and the following year is engaged to perform Susanna (The Marriage of Figaro / Le Nozze di Figaro) at the Nissey Theater in Tokyo, as well as Frasquita (Carmen) under M˚ Donato Renzetti at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste. In Tokyo, she sings Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony under M˚ Yuzo Toyama, and then performs under M˚ Soudant with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra as the soloist of a Mozart concert in Opera City, as well as in Peer Gynt (Grieg).

Between 2014 and 2018, Ms Aragaki is engaged to sing the role of Woglinde under M˚ Kuhn in Wagner’s The Ring of the Nibelung (Das Rheingold, and Die Götterdämmerung) at the Tiroler Festspiele Erl in Austria. Hereafter, she debuts in Tokyo as Ilia (Idomeneo) under M˚ Jun Märkl, in a co-production between the Theater An der Wien and the New National Theater of Tokyo, directed by Damiano Michieletto. In 2015, she sings Gilda (Rigoletto) under M˚ Andrea Battistoni in Tokyo, in a co-production with the Teatro Regio of Parma, then performs Elvira in Gazzaniga’s Don Giovanni at the Teatro Verdi in Pisa.

In 2016, Ms Aragaki is Pamina (The Magic Flute / Die Zauberflöte) at the Teatro Goldoni in Livorno, at the Teatro Verdi in Pisa, and at the Teatro Giglio in Lucca, in a production directed by Lindsay Kemp, and conducted by M˚ Dejan Savic. In 2017 comes her debut as Mimì (La Bohème) in Yokohama (Japan). In 2018, she sings Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi) and Sister Genovieffa (Sister Angelica / Suor Angelica) from Puccini’s Tryptich (Il Trittico) at the New National Theater of Tokyo, in a production by D. Micheletto, conducted by M˚ B. De Billy. Shortly thereafter, Ms Aragaki has her debut as Cio-Cio-San in Madam Butterfly (Madama Butterfly) at the SNG Theatre in Ljubljana (Slovenia).
