Wojciech Parchem, tenor. A graduate of the piano
class at the Feliks Nowowiejski High School of Music in Gdańsk and of the vocal
departments of the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk and the Hanns
Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin. He also graduated from the Warsaw School of
Economics, the MBA programme led by the Poznań University of Economics and
Georgia State University and from the Institute of English Studies at the
University of Warsaw where he is now working on a doctoral dissertation
concerning the theory and praxis of drama and theatre translation. He
participated in many vocal masterclasses and workshops such as Bachakademie in
Stuttgart and Dartington International Summer School. Currently, he receives
vocal tuition from KS Deborah Polaski. A prize winner of the 6. International
Sylvia Geszty Coloratura Singing Competition in Luxembourg. After his
debut at the Warsaw Chamber Opera in 1998, Wojciech Parchem has devoted most of
his professional life to this operatic company performing many leading tenor
roles and participating in the Opera’s tours in France, Spain and Japan. He has
appeared on the stages of Teatr Wielki ­ – Polish National Opera in Warsaw, the
National Theatre in Warsaw, the Wrocław Opera, the German Opera on the Rhine in
Düsseldorf, the Berlin State Opera Unter den Linden and the Sophiensaele
in Berlin. From the very beginning of his career, Wojciech Parchem has
been a very active concert singer who has been invited to sing in many prestigious
concert halls such as the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio in Warsaw, the
Cracow Philharmonic, the Polish Baltic Philharmonic in Gdańsk, Tonhalle in
Zürich, Cité de la Musique in Paris, Konzerthaus in Berlin and Palau de la
Música in Valencia. His large concert repertoire includes numerous oratorios
and songs by Johann Sebastian Bach, Frédéric Chopin, Georg Friedrich Handel,
Joseph Haydn, Gustav Mahler, Claudio Monteverdi, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Franz
Schubert, Robert Schumann and Karol Szymanowski, among others. He took part in
the world’s first performances of works by Thüring Bräm, Gerhard Stäbler,
Zbigniew Rudziński and Leszek Możdżer. His discography comprises
recordings for the Polish Radio as well as for domestic and foreign record
