 Viktorija Kaminskaité won first prize at the Albert Lortzing Competition in Leipzig in 2006.

In 2005 she was awarded a scholarship to study at the Komische Oper in Berlin, where she sang the role of Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, staged by Peter Konwitschny and conducted by Kiril Petrenko. In 2008 she joined the ensemble of Leipzig Opera and since then has sung many principal soprano roles to great acclaim. Later, after becoming a freelance singer, she continued to give guest appearances at Leipzig Opera. In 2013 she was invited by the Bayreuth Festival to sing the role of Dorella in Wagner’s comic opera Das Liebesverbot performed by the Leipzig Gewandhausorchester conducted by Constantin Trinks. During the 2015/16 season Viktorija Kaminsaité made her highly acclaimed debut at the Semperoper in Dresden in the role of Gretel in Humperdinck’s  Hänsel und Gretel in the staging by Katharina Thalbach, and she will return there during the 2016/2017 season.

Viktorija Kaminskaité has worked with many renowned conductors and stage directors at Leipzig Opera who have influenced her in her further development. For instance, she worked together intensively on several productions with stage director Peter Konwitschny.

Viktorija Kaminskaite has built up a broad-ranging opera repertoire, which includes all the most beautiful soprano roles: Fiordiligi, Donna Anna, Pamina, Micaela, Donna Fiorilla, Mimi, Anne Truelove, the Cunning Little Vixen, Alcina and many others. She gives guest performances in many renowned opera houses, for instance at the Komische Oper Berlin, in Dessau, Kassel, at Halle Opera, Vilnius City Opera, Opera de Lyon, the Gran Teatro Nacional Perú in Lima and many others. 

She is also very active as a concert singer, appearing as soloist with several major orchestras under conductors such as Fabio Luisi, Jun Märkl, Gabriel Feltz among others, and she has performed in prestigious concerts in the Gewandhaus and Thomaskirche in Leipzig.

Viktorija Kaminskaite is also a dedicated lied singer. She has given recitals on the world’s major stages singing a great variety of programmes. One highlight was the performance of

Gustav Mahler’s Kindertotenlieder with the Leipzig String Quartet, most recently during the Gustav Mahler Festival in Toblach ( Dobbiaco) 2015 and at the Weil am Rhein music festival in 2016.

CD recordings of Viktorija Kaminskaite in Wolf-Ferrari’s  Le donne curiose with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Ulf Schirmer and in Eugen d’Albert’s Seejungfräulein with the MDR Symphony Orchestra conducted by Jun Märkl and issued on the Naxos label have been enthusiastically acclaimed by the press.
