Bio


Mezzo-soprano Veronika Hajnova graduated at the conservatory VSMU in Bratislava,
at the professor Luba Baricova. She also took part in several master courses in the Czech
Republic and Germany. In 2002 she was the semifinalist in the Belvedere International
Singing Competition in Vienna and was awarded CNIPAL prize. She was nominated
for Thalia Prize two times. In 2003 for Delilah in the opera Samson and Delilah
by Saint-Saens and for Joan of Arc in The Maid of Orleans by Tchaikovsky.


Already as a student she performed in the opera ensemble of The J. K. Tyl´s Theatre
in Pilsen, at the beginning as a guest and in the years 2002 – 2004 as a member
of the ensemble. She created there very significant roles such as Olga in Eugene Onegin
by Tchaikovsky, Kate in The Devil and Kate by A. Dvorak or Charlotte in Werther
by Massenet.She has been a soloist of the Prague State Opera since 2004. She is currently
engaged at the National Theatre in Prague and the National Theatre in Brno, where she
is performing primarily dramatic roles. Among them are Amneris in Aida by Verdi, Azucena
in The Troubadour, The Witch in Rusalka by Dvorak, Carmen in the opera by Bizet or Venus
in Tannhäuser by Wagner. Thanks to the range of her voice she also creates characters
in Mozart´s and Donizetti´s operas. Recently, with great success, she has starred
as Venus in Wagner´s Tannhäuser at the National Theatre in Prague. Her other major roles include Salome, which she sang in production in Prague and Warsaw directed by Mariusz Treliński, then also Dido (Dido and Aeneas) and Kostelnicka (Jenufa).
In 2017 the repertoire of Veronika Hajnova was enriched by these new roles: Laura Adorno (Ponchielli - La Gioconda) and The traveller (Saariaho - Love from Afar).
She performed Amneris as well as Carmen on several tours abroad, in Japan, Spain, Portugal, France, Hungary, Abu Dhabi Emirate or South Korean Soul.
She also  sings at international and home music festivals (Festival Internazionale
della Musica in Milano, festival in Gars am Kamp, Prague Spring, Smetana´s Litomysl,
Janacek´s May, Chopin´s Festival in Marienbad, St. Wenceslaw´s festival in Ostrava etc.)
She is invited to cooperate with outstanding orchestras as Czech Philharmonic Orchestra,
Brno Philharmonic Orchestra, Janacek Philharmonic Orchestra Ostrava, Moravian
Philharmonic Orchestra Olomouc.


In addition to opera, oratorio works and songs are also a part of her repertoir.
First of all we have to name the part of Zefka in Janacek´s The Diary of the One Who
Disappeared, which she performed both home and in the concert performance in Paris Opera
Bastille in 2007 or at the international festival in Milano in 2008, the mezzo-soprano part
in Verdi´s Requiem, which she interpreted with great success in the Opera Municipale
in Marseille under the chief conductor Diederich, songs by Schumann and Chopin,
which she presented at the Chopin Festival in Marienbad, or Mahler´s Songs of the Death
of Children which she studied with the Italian conductor A. Scarano, and after their
successful presentation at the Festival of Forbidden Music in Terezin Veronica Hajnova
sang them in Italy in 2013
