Bio

Actually living in Essen, Germany, Baritone Vasile Chisiu was born in Medias, Romania. He started singing from a very fragile age: first at 
the local Orthodox Church and later on a Romanian Folklore stages. At the age of 21 he was a winner of more than 20 National Folklore Singing competitions and was often appearing on Romanian TV channels.
​Being already 25 years old, Vasile Chisiu decided to start his Opera singing studies at the Iasi Conservatory. He continued his vocal studies at the Bucharest University
of Music, where he obtained a Bachelor and Master degrees of Opera Singing.
​2003-2004 as a holder of the Erasmus-Scholarship Vasile Chisiu studied Singing in Italy, at the Conservatory A.Scontrino  of Trapani.
​2005-2007 Vasile Chisiu has won 3 prizes at the International Singing Competitions:
International Competition Hariclea Darclée (Braila, Romania), Opera Masterclasses  “Oper Oder Spree 2006” in  Burg Beeskow (Germany) and International
Singing Competition  „J.Schmidt”  (Suceava, Romania).
​Baritone Vasile Chisiu continued his voice and interpretation studies with a famous Romanian tenor Corneliu Fanateanu, later his vocal mentors were
famous Romanian singers Eduard Tumagian, nelly Miricioiu and Károly Szilágyi.
In 2007 he participated at    Theatrical studies of „Il Barbiere di Siviglia” at the Project „Nuova Europa 2007", Specialization course at  Teatro Lirico Sperimentale of Spoleto (Italy).
​2011-2012 he was an active participant of the Master Classes of Accademia La Scala at the National Opera of Bucharest: with conductors D.Mazzola and J.Vaughan, scene
director M.Gandini, soprano L.Serra and V.Scalera, pianist - stylistic definition of interpretation.
​In 2005, still studying at the University of Music, baritone Vasile Chisiu debuted at the National Opera of Bucharest as Enrico
Ashton (G.Donizetti, Lucia di Lamermoor) and was employed as a permanent Soloist of the National Opera of Bucharest.
​Since then he appeared on stage of the National Opera of Bucharest in more than 20 roles (Rigoletto, Alfio, the Husband, Ping, Schaunard, Gasparo, Peter etc.)
Vasile Chisiu created important baritone roles on stages of other Romanian Opera Theatres (Germont (Focsani), Gianni Schicchi, Rigoletto (Iasi), Enrico (Constanta),
Danilo (Brasov).
His international career started in 2010, with Carlo Gerard from U. Giordano’s “Andrea Chenier” (Nausica Opera International, Soragna di Parma, Italy).
In 2011 Vasile Chisiu debuted in the role of Rigoletto (G.Verdi) in Teatro Derby, Milan. In summer 2011 he was invited to sing 10 performances at the VIIth
edition of "Il Carro di Tespi" – the “Rigoletto” tour 2011, in Friuli Venezia Giulia and Veneto regions.
​In 2013 Vasile Chisiu was chosen as a Finalist of Armel Opera Festival and sang the main role in 5 performances of Verdi’s “Simon Boccanegra” (conductors
P.Tamas and G.Sandor) at the Szeged National Opera, Hungary. Performance was directly broadcasted on Arte Live Web.
​In 2014 Vasile Chisiu has sung Enrico Ashton in "Lucia di Lammermoor" (G.Donizetti), at Winslow Hall Opera, UK. (Lucia - Elena Xanthoudakis,
Conductor - Oliver Gilmour, Stage Director - David Penn).
​In 2015 Vasile Chisiu appeared as Eletsky in "The Queen of Spades" ("Pique Dame") of P.I.Tchaikovsky at Tiroler Landestheater und
Orchester Innsbruck, Austria (Stage Director - Thaddeus Strassberger, Conductor - Francesco Angelico). 
In 2017 Vasile Chisiu has sung Renato in "Un ballo in maschera" (G.Verdi), at Winslow Hall Opera, UK. . (, Conductor - Oliver Gilmour, Stage Director – Carmen Jacobi).
