Bio

The Dutch soprano Tinka Pypker started her musical training at age five, playing the violin. Later she discovered her voice through singing in her mother’s children’s choir. After that, she sung in a lot of different choirs and opera productions. Eventually, she decided to go the HAVO voor Muziek en Dans, high school of The Conservatoire of Rotterdam, where she studied with Frans Huijts for five years. After finishing there, she went to the School for Young Talent, high school of the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague. She has studied there ever since, with Lenie van den Heuvel and is currently in her third year of the Bachelor’s degree. She is also taking a minor in Early Music and studies with stylistic specialists Dorothee Mields, Peter Kooij and Pascal Bertin, in order to achieve historically informed performance. She has experience in the operatic repertoire singing roles as La Fortuna in Monteverdi’s L’Incoronazione di Poppea and La Speranza in L’Orfeo, both led by Michael Chance and The role of The Queen of the Night in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte. She also sang the soli in various oratorio’s and cantatas, such as Bach’s Coffee Cantata (BWV 211) Mozart’s Requiem, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Schubert’s Mass in G-Minor, and Bach’s Actus Tragicus. She also recently went on tour to Milan, with Fabio Bonizzoni, singing a reconstruction of Serenata BWV 66a, by J.S. Bach. Next to baroque and classical music, she also likes to perform contemporary music: recently, she sang the leading role in the contemporary opera “Kijk op voor de val”by Eyal Margalit, in the Opera Forward Festival of the Dutch National Opera and she has also sung in the ensemble of Louis Andriessen’s “De Materie” conducted by Reinbert de Leeuw.
