American tenor Timothy Oliver began his career by earning a "fest contract" with the world famous Semperoper in Dresden, Germany. In his time there, Mr. Oliver has performed in over 50
operas with over 60 roles in his repertoire. Such roles include the Steuermann in Wagner's "Der Fliegende Holländer," Brighella and the Tanzmeister from Strauss' "Ariadne auf Naxos," Arbace from Mozart's "Idomeneo," Pedrillo from Mozart’s “Entführung aus dem Serail,” and Camille de Rosillon from Léhar's "Die Lustige Witwe." Opening the 2012/2013 season at the Semperoper in September, Die Welt wrote of Mr. Oliver’sperformance as the 2nd Soldier in the premiere of Hans Werner Henze’s, "WeCome to the River," as "the strongest vocal performance of the evening.”

In addition to his numerous performances at the Semperoper and concert appearances, Mr. Oliver maintains a close relationship with the Oldenburgisches Staatstheater and the Komische Oper Berlin. After his first appearance in Oldenburg in 2016 in the role of Gandhi in Philip Glass’ ”Satyagraha,” Mr. Oliver debuted in February of 2017 as Loge in “Reingold” to which the critics of Das Opernglas wrote, “Timothy Oliver was vocally brilliant as an intelligently sly Loge.” He is looking forward to debuting in the fall of 2018 as Mime in “Siegfried” as the new Ring production continues.  Mr. Oliver’s debut at the Komische Oper in Berlin last season was the result of jumping in at the last minute for a new production of the modern opera “Die Geschichten aus dem Wienerwald.” This was followed by two further invitations from the Komische Oper as the role of Ulrich Eißlinger in “Die Meistersinger aus Nürnberg” and the role of John Darling in the new production of Richard Ayer’s opera “Peter Pan.”

Mr. Oliver is equally at home on the concert and recital stage. He made his debut in 2008 at the Alte Oper in Frankfurt, Germany under the baton of Maestro Sebastian Weigle singing the
famous Dying Swan in Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana.” Mr. Oliver maintains a very close relationship with Maestro Fabio Luisi who first brought him to Vienna in 2010 to the Musikverein where he sang the title role in Berlioz’s “Damnation of Faust.” Thereafter, Maestro Luisi has engaged him to sing with orchestras all over the world including the London Symphony, Vienna Philharmonic, NHK Symphony, and L’Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome. In addition, Mr. Oliver is a sought after interpreter of numerous Bach works, in particular the Weihnachtsoratorium, Johannes Passion and Matthäus Passion in both the roles of the Evangelist and Tenor Soloist.

Mr. Oliver has made acclaimed debuts at summer festivals in Austria, Germany and Italy in the leading lyric roles of Belmonte in “Die Entführung aus dem Serail”, Tamino in "Die Zauberflöte", as well as, Nemorino in "L'Elisir d'Amore." In the summer of 2008, he made his debut at the world renowned Wagner Festival in Bayreuth as the Vierte Knappe in the new
“Parsifal” production. He returned to Bayreuth in 2009 to reprise the role and take over the role of Ulrich Eislinger in "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg." He enjoyed returning to the United States in the summer of 2010 with a debut at the prestigious Santa Fe Opera Summer Festival in the role of Monostatos in “Die Zauberflöte”.

Hailing from Norfolk, Virginia, Mr. Oliver earned his Bachelor and Master's
degrees from the University of Cincinnati Conservatory of Music in 2001 and
2003 where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with honors. It was also during his
university years that the Ohio Light Opera engaged him for multiple summers
where he performed leading roles such as Captain Fitzbattleaxe in "Utopia
Limited", Camille de Rosillon in "The Merry Widow", and the
title role in "Robin Hood". In addition, he took part in numerous
summer opera festivals including the St. Louis Opera Apprentice Program and
Central City Opera where he had the honor of singing the lead roles of
Larry/Matt in the famous “Face on the Ballroom Floor” and receiving the John
Moriarty Award.
