Bio

Tenor Timothy Jon Sarris's musical experience has taken him to almost all fifty of the United States,South America, Canada, Europe and distant islands of the South Pacific. 
Makind his professional debut in 1983 with Wolf Trap Opera Festival, Sarris continued in leading roles with Connecticut Opera,Augusta Opera; Central City Opera, Colorado; Cleveland Opera,Ohio ;Sarasota Opera,Florida;San Francisco Opera, California;Opera Pacific, California;Caramoor Opera, New York and then internationally with L'Opera de Montreal,Canada; Teatro Teresa Carreno Caracas, Venezuela; L'Opera de Montreal, The National Theatre Szeged, Hungary; Teatro della Fortuna di Fano, Italy and Teatro Sperimentale di Spoleto, Italy. 

Beginning as a bartione Sarris has sung Figaro ( Rossini - Il barbiere di Siviglia), Michonnet ( Cilea-Adriana Lecouvreur),Enrico ( Donizetti -Lucia di Lammermoor),Masetto ( Mozart-Don Giovanni), Papageno (Mozart-Die Zauberflote),Melchior (Amahl and the Night Visitors-Menotti);Peter ( Hansel und Gretel- Humperdinck);Gangmitled Vier ( Henze-Das verratene Meer),Herr Ford ( Nicoali-Die Lustige Weiber von Windsor),Eisenstein (Strauss-Die Fledermaus)Danilo Danilowitsch (Lehàr-Die Lustige Witwe) .Having sung the zwischenfach repertoire, Sarris progressed to making his tenor debut as Tamino( Mozart-Die Zauberflote) Continuing with Don Ottavio(Mozart-Don Giovanni),Alredo(Verdi-La Traviata)Mercurio(Cavalli-La Calisto)Giovanni (Catàn -La Hija de Rappaccini)Fernando( Granados-Goyescas) Mozart ( Kimskij-Korsakov - Моцарт и Сальери  Mozart and Salieri).
Memorable muscial collaborations have been with Anastasios Vrenios, who initially encouraged Sarris to pursue the vocal arts and George Shirley who predicted the young baritone's future in the tenor repertoire. Conductors Hans Graf, Marcus Stenz, Max Rudolf, Tamas Pal, Roberto Montenegro,Roberto Parmeggiani, Pinchas Zuckerman and composer Kam Morrill who wrote his opera , Perlimplin, expressly for Sarris, have further developed his artistry. This, followed by his work with composer Gian Carlo Menotti who cast and directed him in his opera, Amelia Goes to the Ball, has always reminded Mr. Sarris, who initially wanted to be an actor, of the importance of opera as theater.
In concert he has sung at Avery Fischer Hall with The Orchestra Society of New York; San Diego Symphony; San Francisco Pops Orchestra;The Fairfax Symphony; The Hellenic Music Foundation-NYC; The Bryant Park Opera Series-NYC; The Calgary Philharmonic- Calgary,Canada and The Orchesta Sinfonica del Sodre- Montevideo, Uraguay. As a recitalist he made his Alice Tully Recital Hall debut in 1988 at Lincoln Center, New York which led to recitals at Merkin Concert Hall, New York; Parilla Performing Arts Center, Maryland; The Mexican Embassy and the Kennedy Center for the performing Arts in Washington D.C. Live radio broadcasts include opera highlights from Il barbiere di Siviglia WNYC New York Public Radio ; American Song recital for WETA Washington Classical Radio and a classical song recital for WFLN Philadelphia Classic Music Radio.
He received scholarships to both the University of Maryland, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance and the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, where he recievied a Masters of Music degree in Opera Techniques . He now has the privilege of studying with the distinquished composer,conductor and voice teacher, Maestro Paolo Vaglieri.
Mr Sarris is bilingual in English and Italian. He has dual citizenship from the United States and Greece and enjoys residence status in the Republic of Italy.
