Bio








Theodora Raftis is a coloratura soprano from Cyprus.

She is a part-time member of the Opera Studio Opera Fuoco in Paris from 2017 to 2019. In addition, she is studying Master's in Opera at Vienna's University of Music & Performing Arts, under the guidance of Claudia Visca, supported by the A. G. Leventis Scholarship.

She has won numerous awards, some of which include 2nd Prize in the International Singing Competition József Simándy 2016; Finalist in the International Singing Competition Éva Marton 2016; 1st Prize in the Edward Brooks English Song Prize 2014; 2nd Prize in the Mario Lanza Opera Prize 2014; and the Joseph Weingarten Scholarship 2014.

Her concert repertoire includes works by Bach, Haydn, Händel, Britten, Orff, Fauré and Rutter. Whereas some of her roles include Ermione (Oreste), Theodora (Theodora), Mademoiselle Silberklang (Der Schauspieldirektor), Ilia (Idomeneo), Despina (Così fan tutte), Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), Servilia (La clemenza di Tito), Olympia (Les Contes d'Hoffmann), Blanche de la Force (Dialogues des Carmélites) and Greta Fiorentino (Street Scene).

Her Musical Theatre repertoire includes songs from The Phantom of the Opera, West Side Story, Mary Poppins, A Little Night Music, Sweeney Todd, Whistle Down the Wind, Tell Me on a Sunday, the operetta Candide and many more.

Theodora has participated in masterclasses with renowned artists such as Teodor Currentzis, Éva Marton, Sumi Jo, Barbara Bonney, Felicity Lott, Júlia Hamari, Michael Chance, Jenny Drivala and Marco Balderi.

As well as having performed in some of Hungary’s most prestigious venues, she has also made solo appearances in many other countries in Europe and on tour in China. Furthermore, she has performed in the Budapest Spring Festival, the London Festival of Baroque Music and the Modern World Premiere of M. Haydn's Kaiser Constantin I. Feldzug und Sieg (to be released on CD) .

Some of her future events this season include performances in the Cuvilliés Theatre in Munich with Kammeroper München; the Philharmonie de Paris Concert Hall with acclaimed artists Andreas Scholl, Laurent Naouri and the Tölzer Boys’ Choir; the Shanghai Symphony Hall and Bachfest Leipzig with renowned baritone Markus Werba and conductor David Stern; as well as a world tour with conductor Martin Haselböck with performances in Musikverein Vienna, Los Angeles and Mexico City.
