Bio

Puerto Rican Soprano Tatiana Irizarry has left her warm and sunny Caribbean island behind to pursue her dream career in the European opera world. Since childhood, she has always been interested in arts, having participated in the children&rsquos choir and drama group at her church.  She officially began her vocal training at 19 years old in the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico were she graduated Cum laude, was awarded with the Excellence Medal of the voice department, and won First Prize in the Dr. Rabelo Belcanto Scholarship.  Her opera debut was with the Conservatory’s Symphonic Orchestra in 2010, singing the Queen of the Night from W. A. Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte. Since then, she has been an active soloist of the Puerto Rico Symphonic Orchestra, the Puerto Rico Philharmonic Orchestra, and the National Choir of Puerto Rico. Recent performances include the title role in the Zarzuelas Luisa Fernanda and Doña Francisquita, Soloist in Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, W. A. Mozart’s Requiem, Governess role in Britten’s Turn of the Screw, among many others. Tatiana has also sung abroad in the United States, Israel, and Belgium.* She has had the great pleasure to share stage with local and international singers such as Anita Raschvelishvili, Ana María Martínez, Nancy Fabiola Herrera, Michael Fabiano, Lawrence Brownlee, Rafael Dávila, Hilda Ramos, Riccardo Zanellato, Eglise Gutierrez, Joel Prieto, Deborah Voight, Eva-María Westbroek, Jorge Lagunes and Randal Turner.   Tatiana is currently refining her vocal skills with bass-baritone Gidon Saks (Deustche Oper Berlin, Royal Opera House) and Welsh soprano Catrin Wyn-Davies (www.thesingingworks.com).  Her engagements for 2014 includes the Bouwunie Awards Concert at the Flemish Parliament in Brussels, the Governess in Britten’s The Turn of the Screw, the cantata Nausikaä by Flemish composer Vic Nees and soloist in the Pettite Misse Solennelle from Gioacchino Rosini.   *CV available by demand
