«Ștefan von Korch , si può dire che accanto a due Elvire di livello c’era un Arturo non da meno, perché per colore, fraseggio e sovracuti, che sono arrivati al FA in entrambe le recite, era tutto al proprio posto.»

Bio

Ștefan von Korch is currently one of the most appreciated tenors of Romania. The tenor with “musical skills, phenomenal high Cs and an iron will”, as he was described by music critics, has taken part as a main lead on national and international stages from the age of 21.

His role in “I Puritani” achieved his recognition as one of the few tenors in the world that can perform this work at the highest level. The connoisseurs of the genre know the difficulty of this bel canto opera, which consists of singing the F (Neo-latin: Fa) note over the C (Neolatin: Do) note, dreamed of by any tenor. Ştefan von Korch debuted in I Puritani as Arturo, under conductor Giuseppe Sabbatini.      Born in Oradea, Romania, Ştefan von Korch received his musical training at the “Art High School” of Oradea, as a canto (primary) and piano (secondary) student. During his years of study at the Gheorghe Dima Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca, he debuted on the ClujNapoca National Opera stage, at the age of 21, as Tamino in The Magic Flute. Shortly after, he obtained his second debut as Nemorino of L’Elisir d’Amore at the Cluj-Napoca Hungarian Opera. Ştefan von Korch often performs as guest of National Opera Houses (Bucharest, Iaşi, Cluj-Napoca) and Philarmonics (Cluj-Napoca, Iaşi, Arad, Oradea, Râmnicu Vâlcea) and is frequently invited to share his talent on international stages (Zürich, Berna, Frankfurt, Bratislava, Viena). He collaborates and is appreciated by renowned conductors, such as Guillermo Garcia Calvo and Giovanni Bria, to name a few.        Ștefan von Korch has won numerous awards, to include: Grand Prize, “Ionel Perlea” Lied Interpretation Competition (6 May 2012); Third Prize, “Alfredo Giacomotti” International Song Competition (17 June 2012); Darclée Foundation Award, “Hariclea Darclée” International Song Competition (12 August 2012).
