Praised for her unique timbre and glamorous stage presence, Greek-Canadian soprano Soula Parassidis debuted in 2009 at the Festival d&rsquoAix-en-Provence in Orhpée aux Enfers conducted by Alain Altinoglu and the Salzburg Camerata. Later that year she was invited to join the fest ensemble at Oper Leipzig where she sang for three consecutive seasons in a wide variety of leading roles with the Gewandhausorchester, including productions of Aufstieg und fall der Stadt Mahagonny, Don Giovanni, Carmen, Die Zauberflöte, Hänsel und Gretel, and Admeto Re di Tessaglia (Alceste). During her engagement she also worked extensively with Ulf Schirmer and Peter Konwitschny in productions of Al gran sole carico d'amore, Parsifal, Elektra , Aida and Cosi fan tutte. Other operatic performances include Vitellia in La Clemenza di Tito with the Taipei Symphony orchestra conducted by Benjamin Bayl and directed by Justin Way, Cosi fan tutte at the Berlin Philharmonie, Dialogues des Carmelites with Vancouver Opera, Cosi fan tutte at Nürnberg Opera, Les Pecheurs des Perles at Opera Holland Park. Cosi fan tutte at Theatre Athenée Paris, and the title role of Vanessa by Samuel Barber at the Opéra-Théatre de Metz Métropole, where she recently starred as the Gräfin Madeleine in Richard Strauss' rarity, Capriccio. Soula has also performed Mahler's 4th Symphony at the Orchestre National de Capitole de Toulouse, Correspondances by Henri Dutilleux  with the Czech Philharmonic at the Rudolfinum Prague, Wagner's Wesendonck Lieder at the Attersee Festival, Bachainas Brasilieras at the Berliner Waldbühne, Giuditta at the Teatro Massimo Palermo, Giulio Sabino at the Gewandhaus Leipzig, Beethoven 9th Symphony with the Wüttembergische Philharmonie, and excerpts from Die Lüstige Witwe and Die Fledermaus in Dublin with RTÉ concert orchestra conducted by John Wilson.  Born to a Greek father and Irish mother, Soula grew up in Vancouver, Canada and first trained as a flutist and actor for 10 years before studying voice. She completed her formal education at the University of British Columbia and the Vancouver Academy of Music, subsequently studying in Europe with Brigitte Fassbaender, Cheryl Studer and Karan Armstrong in Innsbruck, Würzburg and Berlin respectively. Soula has been the recipient of generous support from the Canada Council for the Arts, as well as multiple prize winner in the Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions.
