Bio


The soprano Sofia Livotov was born in St.Petersburg and grew up in Hannover (Germany), where she first completed her piano studies at the University of Music, Drama and Media. Being always interested in the vocal art, she decided to change the instrument and obtained her vocal education at the Conservatory of Lucerne with Prof. Liliane Zürcher and at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Valérie Guillorit. Sofia has sung leading roles in contemporary opera productions of the Lucerne Theater and the Theater Casino Zug and was a member of the opera studio of the Conservatory of Lucerne. She participated in master classes with Margreet Honig, Laurent Pillot, Marianne Kohler, Krisztina Laki, Klesie Kelly and Regina Werner-Dietrich. Sofia has performed with ensembles such as the Festival Strings Lucerne, the Sinfonietta Zürich, and the Orchestra of the Tonhalle Zurich under the leadership of David Zinman. Besides opera, Sofia is a passionate Lieder singer and gives regularly concerts in Switzerland, France, Germany and The Netherlands. With the pianist Haiou Zhang she gave her debut at the International Festival Buxtehude, and with the Dutch pianist Frans van Ruth she has given recitals in Oegstgeest and Amsterdam. During her master studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, for which she has been granted with scholarships by several Swiss foundations, Sofia has worked with conductors such as Ed Spanjaard, Jurjen Hempel, Joao Santos and Wim Dijkstra, and with stage directors such as Floris Visser, Elsina Jansen, Miranda Lakerveld and Pierre Audi. Her roles on the operatic stage include Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Prima Sorella Cercatrice (Suor Angelica), Anna (Nabucco), Musetta (La Boheme) and Adina (L`Elisir d`amore).
