Bio

  Georgian mezzo soprano has graduated from Tbilisi State Conservatory. In the age of 24 she entered the main cast of Tbilisi State Opera where she has been performing lead roles in the operas of Mozart, Verdi and Tchaikovsky for next 3 years. In 2008, following the invitation of the Italian Embassy, she moved to Italy in order to continue her studies with some of the most renowned masters of operatic music, such as Gianfranca Ostini, Jenny Anvelt, Katia Riccarelli, Jaume Aragall and Marcello Lippi. She is a winner of a few internationally acclaimed singing competitions. Among them: "Martini", "G.Simionato", " G. Zechariah", "E. Lisca", "Giovani Voci" of Magent, "La Citta Sonora". She also reached the final round of the most prestigious Operalia under the supervision of. Placido Domingo, as well as Hans Gabor Belvedere Competition. From her operatic debuts worth mentioning Rigoletto in La Scala of Milan together with Leo Nucci, which was warmly received by public as well as critics. She celebrated her debut as Suzuki in the theatre of Pirandello di Agrigento, at the Arena Alpe Adria in Legnano and at the festival of Cura Carpignano. As Santuzza Sofia Janelidze debuted in Vagnoni in Vegevano, as Madame Flora in Menotti's Medium at the festival Piccola Spoleto, as Farnace in Mozart's Mithridate at the Al Bustan festival in Lebanon together with the cast of Georgian State Opera. The role of Maddalena she interpreted together with Ivan Magri in Estonia, at the theatre of Vanemuine. She debuted in the Theatre of Verdi in Pisa with the role of Adelaide in Nino Rota's Napoli Milionaria and later with the same role in the teatre Goldoni of Livorno and del Giglio of Lucca. Last year Sofia Mede her debut in the theatre of Pertuzzeli in Bari, also with Rigoletto, followed by a season in the theatre of Verdi in Pisa with the productions of La Forza del Destino, Les Contes D'Hoffmann, Il Mantello and Pinocchio.
