Bio

Simone Rønn, Danish contralto, is educated from The Royal Danish Conservatory of Music in 2010 where she studied with Anne Margrethe Dahl, Susanna Eken and Margrete Enevold. Since then she continued her studies in Berlin with Prof. Julie Kaufmann/Universität der Künste. Already in 2003 Simone won the classical prize of mezzosoprano Edith Guillaume at a Danish competition for young singers “Unge Sangere”. Simone has mostly been doing baroque music, and has been soloist in numerous concerts for instance in Händel’s "Messiah" in Denmark, Sweden and Iceland, "Stabat Mater" by Vivaldi and Pergolesi, “Dixit Dominus” by Vivaldi and Händel, and “Christmas Oratorio” by J. S. Bach. She has also been doing many lied recitals as well as being soloist in more romantic pieces, such as Rossini’s "Petite Messe Solenelle", Brahms' "Altrhapsodie" and "Stabat Mater" by Dvorak. Of opera repertoire, Simone has been doing stage productions as Katisha in “The Mikado”, 3. Lady and 3. Boy in “The Magic Flute”, Zita in “Gianni Schicchi” and The Nurse” in “Boris Godunov” with Opera Undergrunden. On CD you can hear Simone as Messagiera and Speranza on Copenhagen Soloists’ live recording of Monteverdi’s “L’Orfeo”.
