Bio


Italian soprano Selena Colombera earned her degree in Singing at the “Benedetto Marcello” Conservatory in Venice where she studied under Elena De Martin. In 2015 she graduated with honours at “Arrigo Pedrollo” Conservatory in Vicenza specializing in Vocal Chamber Music with Elisabetta Andreani. In 2017 she graduated at biennial Master in “Italian Vocal Chamber Music between XIX and XX century” at the Conservatory “Giuseppe Verdi” in Milano, with G. Salvetti, P. Petazzi, C. Orselli, L. Castellani, E. Battaglia, A. Ballista, R. Piacentini, T. Scandaletti, D. Uccello e S. Doz. In 2017 she studied at the first “Accademia Verdiana” at the Regio Teatro of Parma with great artists such as: Giovanna Casolla, Renato Bruson, Fiorenza Cedolins, Cecilia Gasdia, Barbara Frittoli and William Matteuzzi.
She also attended masterclasses with M. Guadagnini, M. Nardis, F. Scaini, P. Romanò. She is currently studying with B. Frittoli, G. Donadini and P. Guarnera.
In 2015, in duo with the Latvian pianist D. Kalnins, she won the XI National Competition “Premio Nazionale delle Arti”, Premio Claudio Abbado, for the Vocal Chamber Music category.
Her large chamber music repertoire includes works by Brahms, Schubert, R. Schumann, C. Schumann, Liszt, Leoncavallo, Ottorino and Elsa Respighi, G. Sgambati, P. A. Tirindelli, F. P. Tosti, M. E. Bossi, G.F. Malipiero, G. Martucci, Castelnuovo-Tedesco, L. Bernstein, B. Britten, M. De Falla, G. Fauré, A. Ginastera, M. Ravel, D. Šostakovič, P. I. Tchaikovsky, S. Rachmaninoff.
Interested in contemporary music, she sang works by L. Berio (4 Folk Songs) L. Nono (Das Atmende Klarsein), G. Petrassi, L. Dallapiccola (Liriche di Machado), N. Castiglioni (Cantus Planus), A. Corghi (A ‘nsunnari) M. Lenzi, E. Marcuzzo, G. Sparano, A. Zambon and N. Evangelisti. Several compositions have been written for her voice: “E allora il mio cuore voleva sentire” by A. Zambon, “XXIII canto” by F. Zorzini and “Desiderio di Afrodite” by C. Pasquotti.
As an opera singer she performed the following roles: Paoluccia in Piccinni’s “La Cecchina” (Theater Malibran, Venice 2010), Mariuccia in Nino Rota’s “I due timidi” (Malibran 2011), Vecchia Madre in “Le sette canzoni” di G. F. Malipiero (Malibran 2012), Nada in “Cecè” by Raffaele Cipriano, (Venice 2012), Curra in “La forza del destino”, Dama in “Macbeth” and Ines in “Il Trovatore” by G. Verdi (Colognola, Bergamo 2012/2013), Ministro in “Il vestito nuovo dell’imperatore” by P. Furlani (Vittorio Veneto/Pordenone, 2013), Silvia in “Zanetto” by P. Mascagni, and Susanna in “Il segreto di Susanna” by E. Wolf-Ferrari (Venice, 2013/2014), Pamina in “Il flauto magico” by W. A. Mozart (Vicenza and Venice 2015), Giulia in “Le donne gelose” by A. Zambon, Giulietta in  “La fuggitiva” by L. Gregoretti (Pordenone 2017), Dorothy  in “Il mago di Oz” by P. Valtinoni (Festival OperaEstate of Bassano del Grappa 2017).
Selena graduated in History of Art (Bachelor) at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice (2010).
