In 2009, Sebastjan appeared in a major role in the successful second-ever staging of the Slovenian romantic opera Poslednja straža (The Last Watch) by Risto Savin. He has sung with great success in Italy and has recreated the roles of Rinuccio in Puccini's Gianni Schicchi, Basilio in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, Tassilo in Kálmán's Gräfin Mariza, and Gustl von Laudegg in Stolz's Frühjahrsparade. His performances have included tours in Slovenia, Italy, Germany, Austria, Spain, Croatia, Norway and others. From 2009 to 2011, Sebastjan was engaged as a guest singer at the Slovene National Opera House, where he performed the roles of Eduardo (Rossini's La cambiale di matrimonio) and Philipp (Mozart's Der Schauspieldirektor). In March 2015, Sebastjan sang the title role in Stravinsky’s opera “Oedipus rex” at the Croatian National Theatre in Rijeka. Sebastjan is also very active on the concert platform. He performes regularly with many different orchestras, among them the Orchestra of Rijeka Opera House, the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, Oslo Baroque Orchestra, Süddeutschen Kammersolisten, Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra of Stuttgart University and the Württemberg Philharmonic Orchestra Reutlingen. His musical interests have also led him to perform early baroque music and he appeared at the Europa Cantat festival in Barcelona, performing Vespro della beata vergine 1610 (Monteverdi), with the Catalonian Baroque Orchestra. Later on, he performed the same piece with the Oslo Baroque Orchestra for Radio Oslo and the BBC. Sebastjan participated in the “Slovenian state competition for young musicians” and was awarded a gold medal. In February 2014, Sebastjan was awarded the third prize at the International Lied-duet competition „Pinovoce“ in Moscow. He regularly participates in the masterclasses of renowned professors, including Helena Łazarska, Richard Miller, Marvin Keenze, Gerhard Zeller, Dunja Vejzović, Peter Berne, Shirley Close und Matthias Klink. On top of all his artistic engagements, from 2009 until 2012 Sebastjan was president of the Slovenian Chamber Music Theater (Slovensko komorno glasbeno gledališče) where he focused on promoting 20th Century Chamber Opera works. Among other engagements, next season Sebastjan will perform the title role in Offenbach's The tales of Hoffmann in Landestheater Neustrelitz.
