Sasa Mirkovic, violist, was born in Cacak in 1980.  He has completed his elementary and high music education at the School for Music Talents in Cuprija and after that he completed both undergraduate studies and masters at the Faculty of Music Arts in Belgrade, where he currently attends the final year of PhD studies. As a soloist, a member of string quartet and a member of the orchestra, he has participated at all important manifestations in Serbia (Bemus, Review of Composers, The Joy of Playing Music&hellip) and performed at festivals and concert tours around the world, in concert halls such as Toulouse Theater (France), the Essen Philharmonic (Germany), Avery Fisher Hall at the Lincoln Center, the Carnegie Hall (NY, USA), the Walt Disney Hall (Los Angeles, USA), the Luxemburg Philharmonic (Luxemburg), the Chicago Philharmonic, the Sydney Opera House (Australia), the Israel Philharmonic (Israel), the Palau de la Musica (Spain) and many others... He has won a large number of First and Special Prizes, among which stands out the First Prize at Talents for the 21st Century Competition in Slovakia, which gave him an opportunity to perform as a soloist with the Slovakian Chamber Orchestra, led by violinist Bohdan Warchal. Sasha Mirkovich is active both as soloist and as a chamber musician, with a special affinity for contemporary artistic music. He has held a large number of recitals and chamber concerts in Serbia and abroad. For his performances of contemporary music, he has received special awards. He attended the master course Prague-Vienna-Budapest and worked with Professor Ognjan Stacev. As a member of the Quartet Contradance he attended master course with new Helsinki quartet and the Medici Quartet. Within the same seminar as a soloist he worked with a violist of the Medici Quartet Ivo-Jan van der Werff. As a student he was member and leading viola of Norwegian Youth Orchestra (Elverum), German- Scandinavian Orchestra (Berlin), World Peace Orchestra (Stockholm). ​As a soloist, he has performed with Slovakian Chamber Orchestra (SKO), the ARTE Ensemble, the Belgrade Chamber Orchestra Ljubica Marić, the Belgrade String Orchestra Dušan Skovran, the Schlesinger Chamber Orchestra, the Serbian Military Symphony Orchestra Stanislav Binički, the Youth Symphony Orchestra of the South-Eastern Europe, the Chamber Orchestra of the University of Kragujevac, the  No Borders Orchestra and Ensemble Metamorphosis  being its founder and art director. ​His past engagements include position of the leader of viola section in the Ensemble for New Music, the ARTE Ensemble, the Belgrade String Orchestra Dusan Skovran, the Belgrade Chamber Orchestra Ljubica Maric, the Chamber Orchestra Slezinger, as well as his occasional cooperation with the Orchestra Zebeljan and the Belgrade Philharmonic. He has also performed within quartets the Contradance and the Con trust. Many Serbian composers have dedicated their works to him, both for solo instrument and for viola and orchestra. Sasha is a founder and artistic director of Ensemble Metamorphosis, a member and principal viola at No Borders Orchestra, and engaged as a viola professor at Univesity of Kragujevac, Faculty for Philology and Art.
