Bio

Born in Manfredonia (FG) Italy, she was the winner of the &ldquoGiacomo Lauri Volpi” Prize in Rome and took part in a Gala concert at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma (broadcast by RAIDUE).  She got a degree at the Musical Academy in Pescara, at the Accademia Paolo Grassi of Martina Franca and contemporaneously after the classical studies, she graduated with honours in Philosophy of Science at the University and in a Master in Psiconeuroendocrinoimmunology.  After winning the Special Prize of Radio Stuttgart at the Budapest international Competition, she debuted very young at the Teatro dell’Opera of Rome in a new production staged by Piero Faggioni of Massenet’s Don Quichotte, under the baton of Alain Guingal, and with Ruggero Raimondi, Anna Caterina Antonacci and Philippe Leroy.  She took part in the season opening the “Festival della Valle D’Itria of Martina Franca”, performing in Ippolito  e Aricia,  directed by Guido De Monticelli (recorded by Dynamic) and she made her successful debut in La Bohème in the role of Mimì at the Teatro Verdi of Padova. She recorded on CD Mozart’s Exultate lubilate with the Orchestra “Filarmonica Veneta” of the Teatro Comunale di Treviso and she debuted at the Teatro Mancinelli of Orvieto in Le nozze di Figaro, directed by Beppe De Tomasi.  Rossana Potenza regularly performs in recitals, often broadcast by the public Tv. Among them, it is worth mentioning the concert in the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore in Bergamo, broadcast by italian televition RAIDUE, the Christmas concert in the Basilica of  Tricase (Lecce), televised by RAIUNO and recorded on DVD.  Her 2005 season was marked by performances of Fedora  (Olga) for the re-opening of the Teatro Umberto Giordano, a concert in Vatican’s City’s Basilica of S. Paolo for the centenary of Giuseppe Verdi’s death with the BBC Symphony Orchestra (broadcast by RAIDUE and DVD recorded), a recital at the Teatro Argentina of Rome, (Rolando Nicolosi, pianist) and Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater led by Tamas Pal at the Festival di Pasqua in Rome. She sang in a Concert Gala at the Teatro Greco of Taormina with Josè Carreras (televised by RAIDUE). Engagements at the Teatro Pergolesi di Jesi and at the Teatro Comunale di Mantova have followed (Mimì in La Bohème), as well as the roles of Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro and Zerlina in Don Giovanni at the Teatro Argentina in Rome with Renato Bruson.  Prestigious was her debut at Carnegie Hall of New York in Il Corsaro (Medora) in March 2004. Her 2005 season was marked also by the portraying of Mimì in La Bohème at the TeatroMassimo di Palermo under the baton of Donato Renzetti, directed by Giuseppe Patroni Griffi and by the debut in the role of Desdemona (Otello)  for the opening of lyric season of Bulgarian State Opera Theatre in Sofia In the following years she sang: La  Bohème  in Florence, Gianni  Schicchi at the Teatro Pergolesi di Jesi and in Fermo, IL mondo della luna di G. Paisiello in the role of Clarice at the Teatro Verdi of Trieste, Carlos Gomes’s Il Cristoforo Colombo in the role of the Queen Isabella at the Teatro Bellini of Catania in the first european performance under the baton of  Silvio Barbato, Massenet’s Werther at the Bellini Theatre, Pagliacci in the role of Nedda at the Teatro Lirico of Cagliari, La Bohème in the role of Mimì at the Teatro Massimo of Palermo directed by Lorenzo Mariani, Pagliacci in the role of Nedda at the Bellini Theatre of Catania, Manon Lescaut at the Roy Tomson Hall of Toronto, Tosca for Tchaikovsky Festival in Izhevsk (Russia), Tosca in Bayreuth at Staat Halle and in Bad Kissinger at the Rosenthal Theater from september 2011 to march 2012.  Prestigious was her “Tosca” at the “Erl Festival” in Austria under the baton of Gustav Kuhn ( 2012-2013). On the concert side, she has also performed in Faurè’s Requiem  and Bernstein’s West side Story at the Festival Euromediterraneo in Rome, in a concert under the baton of Eve Queler (works by Puccini), Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater with the chamber group of Berliner Philarmoniker, the Christmas Concert in the Cathedral of Milan with Monserrat Caballé and Renato Bruson (broadcast by Rai and soon on DVD), in the Gala dedicated to the 40 year of career of Giorgio Merighi, with Mirella Freni, in Pergolesi’s Salve  Regina, in a recital at the Rudolfinum in Praga(2005), in an Opera Gala for the foundation “Verona per l’Arena”, in Rossini’s Stabat  Mater with London Simphony Orchestra under the baton of Paolo Olmi(2007), in a concert at Budapest Congress World Trade Center with Budapest Philarmonic Orchestra of Hungarian State Opera House under the baton of Tamas Pal(2008), in a recital at Carnegie Hall in New York(2007), in a concert at Notre Dame Church in Montreal. In august 2008 she sang with Placido Domingo in Pecs, Hungary, under the baton of Eugene Kohn. Subsequently some concerts for “Verona’s Arena” in Berlin, Munich, Dusseldorf and Vienna and in Milan with the orchestra of “Cameristi of La Scala”. She sang a new production of Tosca under the baton of Alberto Veronesi and a replay of the same opera at the Erl Festspiele in 2014. She sang under the baton of Alain Guengall, Gustav Kuhn, Stefano Ranzani, Donato Renzetti, Eugene Kohn, Tamas Pal, Eve Queler, Josè Collado, Tulio Gagliardo, Silvio Barbato, Daniele Callegari, Renato Palumbo, Paolo Olmi, Massimiliano Stefanelli, Vladimir Ghiaurov, Ezio Rojatti, Claudio Scimone, Micael Halazs, Maurizio Arena.
