Composer, conductor, musical director and pianist having some 40+ years' experience in these fields as an adult. Responsible for instigating a community symphony orchestra and a professional music theatre company, both of which still exist. I continue to be involved in the musical life of Newcastle (Australia) and its environs. Interested in the technology of music notation and digital reproduction of same with facility in Finale, Sibelius and Notion. Undertaking limited music teaching and adjudicating. I also have law qualifications, which has aided my abilities in arts administration and production.A recent composition is the chamber opera 'Playing Post Office', written with international dramatic soprano Jennifer Wilson - - as librettist.More recently I have completed two song cycles - "The Man In The Other Room" to words by my daughter Samantha Fiddes for soprano and string quartet (7 songs, 23 minutes) which was premiered in November 2015 by soprano Anna Fraser and the Acacia Quartet, and "These Men" a sung-through song cycle based on poems of Leon Gellert to commemorate the centenary landings at Gallipoli on 25 April 1915 (considered Australia's first blooding as an independent nation) for high voice and piano (16 minutes) which was premiered in April 2015 by soprano Ayse Goknur Shanal & pianist Patrick Keith and on a CD from Wirripang Media.
