Rita Marques was born in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal. She completed her Singing degree in Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (2010-2013) in Silvia Mateus’ class.

She has already been Königin der Nacht in “Die Zauberflöte” by W. A. Mozart; Princess, Young Lady and Dame in “Lady Sarashina” by P. Eötvos; Despina in “Così fan tutte” by W. A. Mozart; Sofia in “Il Signor Bruschino” by G. Rossini and Soeur Alice in “Dialogues des Carmelites by F. Poulenc.

With a Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian/ENOA – European Network of Opera Academies scholarship, she attended workshops with Claudio Desderi (FCG, Lisbon, Oct/2014, Jun/2015, Oct/2015), June Anderson and Cecilia Gasdia (Verona, Sep/2015) and the “Wiener Operette Workshop” in the Bayrische Theatherakademie (Munique, Oct/2015).

In 2016/2017 she attended the Centre de Perfeccionament Plácido Domingo in Valencia, Spain, where she worked with the conductors Ramón Tebar, Fabio Biondi and Roberto Abbado, with the pianists Aïda Bousselma, Stanislav Angelov e José Ramón Martín. She also attended several workshops such as with Nacho Fresneda (theatre), Sonia Prina (interpretation), Davide Livermore (Mondeverdi interpretation) and Roger Vignoles (Schumann’s “Myrthen” interpretation). She had Enedina Lloris and Manuela Custer as vocal coaches. As a CPPD’s student, she was Governess in “The turn of the screw” by B. Britten (Christopher Franklin/Davide Livermore, Jun/2017, Teatre Martín i Soler, Valencia, Spain) and Roggiero in “Tancredi” by G. Rossini (Roberto Abbado/Emilio Sagi, Palau de Les Arts Reina Sofía, Valencia, Spain).

In May 2017 she collaborated with Placido Domingo in his MEO Arena concert, in Lisbon, conducted by Eugene Kohn.

In May 2018 she won the 2nd Prize and the Audience Award at the 10th Portuguese Rotary Foundation Singing Competition.

In August 2018 Ms. Marques was one of the 40 finalists of the Operalia that took place at the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos, in Lisbon, Portugal.
