I am a freelance repetiteur, based in inner London, and have been doing this line of work (alongside general accompaniment for both singers and instrumentalists) for a little over 20 years. I'm happy to take on any period////style of music: if I have a speciality it's Wagner, but I've done plenty of other operas from the dawn of the artform to the present day. I don't consider myself expert with baroque repertoire, though - I can play it but don't know much about it. On the other hand I'm good with contemporary stuff. I've rehearsed and/or coached about 50 complete operas and of course have a partial knowledge of dozens more. Auditions: I do a lot of these and enjoy them. I know most of the standard audition repertoire (last time I counted I got to about 600 arias without much difficulty) and can sight-read very fluently. Concert accompanying: in addition to opera gala-type concerts, which I love doing (and again I know most of the standard repertoire for such events), I always enjoy a bit of artsong. I have a large repertoire of these, including many neglected 20th-century composers (tuneful composers, generally). Recordings: I learned how to make recordings as a teenager and have worked for a couple of record labels. I have top-quality professional recording equipment permanently set up in my home music room and, with the addition of a sophisticated artifical reverberation unit, get surprisingly good results there at a very modest cost. I must have done well over 200 demo recordings for singers over the last few years. I can also do simple video recording. Just ask if you want to hear/see samples of my recordings - there are plenty dotted around the internet to which I can refer you. Learning ('karaoke') recordings: if you need to learn a role, aria or song in a hurry and feel a recording of someone playing it on the piano would help, drop me a line. I do a lot of these. Rates: £20 per hour, for anyone, for anything. Single audition in central London: £20.
