Born in Trieste, Riccardo Botta started his studies with his father,
Giuseppe Botta, subsequently undertook advanced studies with Giuseppe Taddei and Enza Ferrari.

He started a succesful career performing more then 80 different roles in the most important international theaters such as Teatro alla Scala in Milano, Bayerische Staatsoper München, Opernhaus Zürich, La Monnaie in Bruxelles, Nederlandse Opera in Amsterdam, Bunka Kaikan Tokyo, Dresden Semperoper, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Canadian Opera Company in Toronto, Teatro São Carlos in Lisboa, Staatstheater in Stuttgart, Opernhaus in Leipzig, Palau des Artes Valencia, New Zealand Festival in Wellington, New Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv, Opéra de Montecarlo, Liceu de Barcelona, Teatro La Fenice Venezia, Arena di Verona, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Teatro dell'Opera di Roma,  and Teatro Regio di Parma.

He collaborated with such important conductors as R. Abbado, M. Benini, D. Callegari, M.W. Chung, R. Frübeck de Burgos, D: Harding, D. Oren, L. Pesek, J. Reynolds, C. Rizzi, P. Rizzo, C. Rovaris, N. Santi and A. Zedda, and such directors as R. Carsen, G. Joosten, P. Pizzi, D. Putney, D. Alden, F. Zeffirelli and L. Ronconi.

Riccardo Botta also maintains an active concert schedule with a
repertoire including Mozart's Requiem, Rossini's Petite messe solennelle and Stabat Mater, Beethoven's IX Symphony and Bruckner's Requiem. He sung Charpentier's Te Deum with the Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome conducted by Myung-Whun Chung, Bach's Magnificat still with the Santa Cecilia Orchestra and the Orchestra of the Pomeriggi Musicali in Milan, C minor Mass by Mozart at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo and Orff's Catulli Carmina in Lugano with RTSI Radio Television Swiss.

He performed the Oratorio Lelio by Berlioz at the opening night at
Prague Proms 2011 under the baton of Libor Pesek.

Since 2008 he works with the Stadtheater
Sankt Gallen.

In the las seasons he sung at the opening night of the Verdi Jubileum 2013 in La Scala di Milano,
performing Falstaff (Bardolfo) under the baton of D. Harding and directed by R. Carsen. He brought this role also at Bayerische Staatsoper Münich and at Bunka Kaikan in Tokyo in 2013 and at Sveriges Radio Stockholm in 2015. He sung also Salome with BIPO in Istanbul, Aida in Arena di Verona in 2013 and 2014. In 2015 he performed again Falstaff at the Sverige Radio Stockholm with D. Harding.

Next engagement include Goro in Madama Butterfly new production at La Monnaie Brussels and Dr
Cajus at Bayerische Staatsoper München.
