Bio

         Ramona Munteanu was born in Cluj Napoca, Romania.  She began studying piano at the age of 5.  She graduated the Sigismund Toduta Music Lyceum in 2000.  In 2005 she received a diploma in piano at the Gheoghe Dima Academy of Music in Cluj Napoca.  She then continued her studies, attending courses for a Master’s degree at the same Academy and received a post-graduate degree in piano with the maximum grades.            In 2010 she obtained a second post-graduate degree at the Benedetto Marcello Conservatory in Venice, where she studied with Giovanni Umberto Battel, Giorgio Lovato and Christine Meyr.            She has won numerous scholarships which gave her the opportunity to study in Italy, Spain and the United States.  In 1998 and 2001 she attended summer courses at the Brevard Music Center in North Caroline (USA), where she participated in the masterclass of two famous pianists, Andre Watts and Peter Serkin. In 2013 she participated at Mallorca Summer Accademy where she studied with Maestro Luca Chiantore. Recently she participated to a Masterclass of the legendary Russian pianist Andrei Gavrilov in Reggio Emilia.              Ramona Munteanu began her concert activity very early, appearing as soloist at the age of nine with the Philharmonic Orchestra in Cluj Napoca, Romania.  In the course of her career she has appeared in numerous concerts in various countries, including the United States, Italy, Spain and Romania.      .          She has won national and international musical competitions: 1993 the “Young Soloists Competition” to play with the Philharmonic Orcheestra of Cluj Napoca, 2003 the Special Prize in the International Piano Competition “Sigismund Toduta,” Romania, 2009 third prize at the national competition “Citta di Piove di Sacco,” Italy in the chamber music section.  In the same year she won the competition for the best students at the Benedetto Marcello Conservatory to perform with the orchestra of the “Teatro La Fenice”. After winning this competition, she played several times as soloist with the Orchestra of  Teatro La Fenice, performing concertos by Beethoven and Mozart.  In April 2011 she won Third Prize in two categories, soloist and chamber music, in the national competition “Citta di Piove di Sacco”.  In July 2011 she won Second Prize at the international competition “Festival di Bellagio and Lake  Como” in the chamber music category.              She is actively involed in chamber music concerts.  Since 2001 she has often performed in piano duos and four hands, with an extensive repetory, from Bach to contemporary music.  She has collaborated with numerous  vocalists, violinists, cellists, flautists, and clarinetists in competitions and concerts. In 2013 she founded the piano duo named “Venice Piano Duo” together with Daniel Castro.                In the past few years she has been actively involved in concert activity as a soloist and in chamber groups, performing in prestigious venues such as the Teatro la Fenice, Teatro Malibran, Teatro Goldoni, Ca’ Rezzonico, and the Conservatories in Venice and Padua.              She began teaching piano in 2005 at the Sigismund Toduta Music Lyceum in Cluj Napoca, Romania, and accompanied musicians at the Gheorghe Dima Academy of Music and now continues this activity in Venice and Verona.               She now lives in Italy and collaborates as a piano teacher with the Cultural Associations “Istituto Superiore d’Arte Musicale” in Marghera and  “Il Suono Improvviso” in Venice, and appears very often as a soloist for concerts presented by the Cultural Association Musica Venezia.
