Bio

Venezuelan baritone Pedro Carrillo made his debut in his homeland as Ford in Verdi' "Falstaff". Since then he collaborated with some of the major orchestras in his country as interpreter of many operas of  the Italian, German, French and Spanish repertoire. The most significant productions made at the Teatro Teresa Carreño and others main halls in Venezuela were: The Barber of Seville (Figaro), La Traviata (Germont), Carmen (Escamillo), Le Nozze di Figaro (Count of Almaviva), Cosi Fan Tutte (Guglielmo), Don Giovanni, El Retablo de Maese Pedro (Don Quijote), La Finta Semplice (Cassandro) and several others. In April 2003 he sang the baritone soloist in Orff's Carmina Burana during the celebrations for the twentieth anniversary of the Theatre.  In 2008 he move to Italy and inmediatly start to sing as a soloist in several productions of Don Pasquale (Malatesta) Elisir d'Amore (Belcore), The Barber of Seville (Figaro) La Boheme (Marcello), Aida (Amonasro), Rigoletto (Rigoletto), La Traviata (Germont) among others. In 2012-2013 he was invited by the Odessa's National Opera to sing the title role in Rigoletto, Scarpia in "Tosca" and Germont in "La Traviata" conducted by Aleksandar Samuil, Igor Chernestkiy and Oksana Lyniv. On July 2013 he made his debut as Conte di Luna in "Il Trovatore" conducted by famous young maestro Valerio Galli an directed by maestro Rolando Panerai, who became Carrillo's mentor after that production. In 2014 he joined the Ensamble of the "Accademia de Alto Perfezionamiento"  at  Festival Puccini Torre del Lago, where he did a successful debut as Michele in "Il Tabarro" conducted by  La Scala's maestro Bruno Nicoli.  He also made his debut as "Nabucco" in October 2014 with Moldavian National Opera. Later with this company he made his debut as Otello's Iago, and made a successfull tournée singing the title role in Verdi's Rigoletto. With the same role he recently made his debut at the Teatro Politeama di Lecce, with excelents reviews, directed by maestro Francesco Ledda.  On April 2016 he made his debut as "Rolando" in Verdi's "La Battaglia di Legnano" during the re-opening of the "Teatro Città di Legnano", with great success.  He has done also an intense work as soloist in symphonic and sacred works, including Faure's Requiem, Mozart's Vesperae Solenne de Confessore, Mahler's 8th Symphony and Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen and Mendelssohn's Elija.  Conductors with whom Pedro Carrillo have worked include:  Gustavo Dudamel, Helmut Rilling, José Miguel Pérez Sierra, Valerio Galli,  Francesco Ivan Ciampa, Nicolae Dohotaru, Alberto Veronesi, , Stefano Seghedoni, e Daniele Agiman.  Pedro Carrillo began his musical instruction as clarinetist at the Venezuelan Youth Circuit Orchestral (Fenosjiv) under the guidance of Jose Antonio Abreu. Carrillo continues his studies at the National Conservatory of Music “Juan Jose Landaeta”, the Latin American Academy of Singing “Carmen Teresa Hurtado" and the Institute of Musical Studies (IUDEM) where he obtained his degree as opera singer under the guidance of Professor Lucy Ferrero. He continues his vocal and technical improvement in the opera repertoire with Anna Kratsova (Hamburg Opera), Nelson Calzi (Teatro alla Scala), Margherita Colombo (Leipzig Opera), taking part in several masterclasses by renowned performers as Mirella Freni, Rolando Panerai, Katia Ricciarelli, Daniela Dessi, Micaela Carosi, Giovanna Casolla, Ingeborg Danz, and Rudolph Piernay.  Before developing a full-time career as opera singer, Carrillo has done an extensive work as actor, producer and artistic director working with the most important artists of the Venezuelan Theater. Nowadays, he continues his studies with his mentor Rolando Panerai in Florence, Italy, and studied with maestri Enzo Spatola in Madrid and Vittorio Terranova at Accademia G. Marziali in Seveso.
