Bio

Patrizia di Paolo has obtained a diploma in piano and viola performance. She has played as principal viola soloist in the European Community Chamber orchestra, the Rai Orchestra in Milan, the Toscanini Orchestra in Parma, Bologna City Theatre and the Teatro La Fenice in Venice. In 2005 she oversaw the direction of all the grand operas presented in Venice by &ldquoMusica a Palazzo” in Palazzo Barbarigo-Minotto, creating an innovative formula: every act of the Opera has to be presented in a different room of the Palazzo and the originality of the direction depends on the interaction of singers, instrumentalists and the audience, diminishing the distance and offering spectators the experience of living the Opera from the inside. -The Daily Telegraph - “But culture - high culture – calls. Performances are conducted in the beautifully preserved 17th-century Barbarigo-Minotto Palace, with audiences invited to move from sitting room to bedroom to witness different parts of the event. We are captivated by the quality of the music, the splendour of the setting, the power and passion of the singing. With most of the palazzi along the Grand Canal long since abandoned (or bought up by wealthy foreigners), the Barbarigo-Minotto is one of the few where the lights still shine brightly. -Le Figarò- “Incredulous, we watch the lyrical drama unfold,. From time to time, the portico and the Tiepolo hall liven up, transfigured by a graceful moment in which music combines with voice, with the movement of bows, with the perfection of the performance and the emotion of the Traviata, who cries on a spectator’s shoulder, just before her agony, in the half-light of the bay”. In 2007 she oversaw the direction of “La Traviata” presented at the Royal Pavilion for the “41st Brighton International Festival” (UK) where she achieved resounding audience and critical acclaim receiving the press award (The Argus) for best production of the Festival itself. In 2008 she directed the “Barbiere di Siviglia” at “Posdam International Festival” (Germany). She has been the artistic Director of the opera production house “Dimensione lirica” since 2011. -The Argus - “Stunning opera picks up the first Argus Angel Award – This opera of love and loss is totally stunning, fully engaging and sometimes raises the hairs on the back of your neck…After two and three quarter hours of such close opera, I emerged into North Street with a lump in my throat and a tear on my cheek…”   Since 2011 she has overseen the direction of the following Theatres and festivals: 2011  TEATRO DI SILANDRO: “RIGOLETTO”              TEATRO DI VIPITENO:  “RIGOLETTO 2012  TEATRO DI VIPITENO: “COSI’ FAN TUTTE”              FERRARA CITY THEATRE: “RIGOLETTO” 2013   FONTANALIRICA FESTIVAL:“LA TRAVIATA”             TREVISO CITY THEATRE: “RIGOLETTO”
