Bio


Olivier Bergeron is a young lyric baritone from Montréal, Canada.




After having started his vocal studies at the Conservatoire de musique
de Montréal, Olivier made his professional début with the Opéra de
Montréal at age 16 as Joseph DeRocher’s younger brother in Jake
Heggie’s Dead Man Walking . At 18, he made his recital début with the
Festival de musique de Lachine alongside Canadian pianist Olivier
Godin.           

Recent performances include the title role in Landi’s “La morte d’Orfeo”, under the direction of
Christophe Rousset with Les Talens Lyriques at the Royaumont Abbey, a Schubert recital with Alex
Soloway at the Festival de musique de Lachine, a mélodie recital alongside Felicity Lott and François Le Roux at the Salle Cortot in Paris, the title role in Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo in a production staged by François
Racine, Carissimi’s oratorio Jephte as well as Raoul de Gardefeu in Offenbach’s La Vie parisienne with
the Opera Studio of the Montréal Conservatory .                 

Projects include a productions of Salieri’s “Prima la musica e poi le parole” (Il Poeta) and Korngold’s
“Die stumme Serenade” (Andrea Coclé) with Paris-based company Opera Fuoco, a tour of Galuppi’s “Il mondo alla roversa” (Graziosino) with l’Orchestre Akadêmia (Opéra d’Avignon, Opéra de Reims, Cité de la musique de Paris) and a baroque concert program with Fuoco e Cenere.

Olivier has recently completed a year of studies on full scholarship at the École normale de musique de Paris with François Le Roux, focusing of the French repertoire and mélodie française. Olivier Bergeron is the recipient of a number of grants and scholarships, including those from the Jeunesses Musicales du Canada, the Art Song Foundation of Canada and the Canimex Foundation.
