«...her singing was first-rate, a rich and lustrous combination of shapely phrasing and expressive urgency.»
Joshua Kosman, SF Chronicle (2018)
«Ultimately, I found myself choosing a handful of characters and following them through the evening’s machinations. Particularly compelling [WAS] the troubled diva Velma, beautifully embodied by the opera-trained Nikola Printz,»
Michael Snyder, marina Times (2018)
«Mezzo-soprano Nikola Printz gave a silky, insinuating performance as the fox who winds up as Sharp-Ears’ husband and the father of her kits.»
Joshua Kosman, SF Chronicle (2018)

Nikola Printz is a young Mezzo Soprano rising in the Opera world. She most recently sang the title role of Isabella in Rossini's L'italiana in Algeri with Opera Memphis.  As a member of the resident artist program there, she has also sung Cherubino, Rosina, Flora Bervoix in La Traviata, and Edith in Pirates of Penzance.
Nikola has made many role debuts in the past few years such as Carmen (Shreveport Opera, 2015), Olga in Eugene Onegin (West Bay Opera, 2016) Lisak the Fox in Cunning Little Vixen (West Edge Opera, 2016) as well as a cover of Isabella and Zulma in L'Italiana in Algeri (Opera San Jose, 2014). Nikola also is a fervent lover of new music, having made her role in the US premiere of Erling Wold's neo-absurdist opera, Uksus.
Originally making her musical home in jazz and cabaret music, Nikola is well-versed in cross-over styles of singing. She's performed in cabaret clubs across the bay area, including spots at Club 1923, The Viracocha Lounge and Yoshi's Jazz. She also created the role of Velma Louise Cole in Boxcar Theater's "Speakeasy SF," an immersive musical theater production that originally opened January of 2014 until June 2014. Nikola plans to return to the Speakeasy in the summer of 2017, reprising her role as Velma. In addition to playing the lead diva at the speakeasy Nikola has created a cabaret routine with her aerial skills in on a dance trapeze singing opera while doing acrobatic tricks in the air.
A graduate of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music vocal program in 2013, Nikola studied under the tutelage of Patricia Craig. Her scholarship continues at the University of Memphis in Tennessee where she is pursuing an Artist Diploma, as part of her residency with Opera Memphis, where she studies voice with Susan Leinert.
