Nikka Mae Lopez finished an Ergänzungsstudium (supplementary studies) in Art Song Design at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe  (University of Music Karlsruhe) under the class of Mitsuko Shirai and Hartmut Höll, while being under the support of a scholarship grant from the Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst (German Academic Exchange Program). Graduated cum laude, she received her Bachelor’s degree in Music majoring in Voice Performance at the University of the Philippines College of Music in 2014. She had been under the tutelage of prominent Filipino mentors such as Ena Maria Aldecoa, Cecilia Valeña, and Alegria Ferrer.
In 2014, Nikka received an Honorable Mention at the National Music Competitions for Young Artists, Voice Category C held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. As a classically trained artist, she has given numerous concerts; the most recent being the Liederabend held at Gernsbach, Baden-Württemberg in 2018 and at Bad Homburg in 2016, with the notable ones such as Timetravel: Songs of Yesterday and Todayin 2016, Arias Over Dinner concert in March 2015, both held in Manila. She had also taken major participations in the Celebrare concerts held twice at the Diocesan Shrine and parish of Our Lady of the Abandoned in 2014 and in 2015, and sang a series of Salon Concerts in Manila since 2010. These concerts featured Art Songs and contemporary vocal repertoire in German, French, Italian, English, and Filipino, opera arias, and Broadway and Disney.
​Her operatic roles consist of Konstanze in Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Anne Page in Nicolai’s The Merry Wives of Windsor, and Caterina in Mascagni’s L’amico Fritz.
​She took masterclasses under well-known voice teachers and performers such as Florence Guignolet, Margarita Gomez-Giannelli, Arthur Espiritu, Noema Erba, Kevin Class, Maestro Alvaro Lozano, and Teresa Berganza, to name some.
She was also the first soprano of the Ripieno Ensemble, which consists of musicians performing contemporary classical music, since its establishment in 2014 until 2016. Even before this period, Nikka has premiered various 21st Century pieces by young Filipino composers such as Marie-Luise Calvero, Juro Kim Feliz, Reis Luke Aquino, and Alexander John Villanueva.
