Bio

German mezzo-soprano Nathalie Senf studied in the class of Prof. Yaron Windmüller at the University of Music Saar in Saarbrücken/Germany, where she graduated in 2004 as an opera singer and vocal coach (Diploma in Vocal Studies - music theatre and Diploma in Music Pedagogy - voice teacher).
During her first engagement as member of the ensemble at Oldenburgisches Staatstheater/Germany (2006 - 2009) she stood out in roles like Charlotte in Werther, Mercedes and Carmen, Orphée in Orphée et Euridice, Suzuki in Madama Butterfly and others.
From 2009 - 2014 Nathalie Senf was member of the ensemble at Theater Plauen-Zwickau/Germany and built a broad repertoire. She interpreted roles like Dorabella in Cosí fan tutte, Sylva Varescu in Die Csardasfürstin, Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus, Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel, Flora in La traviata and others. She followed the development of her voice to the dramatic repertoire, singing Margaretha in Schumann's Genoveva and Hedwige in Rossini's Wilhelm Tell. She brilliantly interpreted Venus in Tannhäuser and reprised a fabulous Carmen.
In 2012 she again interpreted Charlotte in Werther at Mittelsächsisches Theater Freiberg-Döbeln/Germany. Other guest engagements took her to Theater Chemnitz and Das Meininger Theater. Keeping connection to her second home company, she gave her debut as Santuzza in Cavalleria rusticana at Theater Plauen-Zwickau in summer 2017. In 2018 she will perform Grimgerde in Die Walküre at Theater Chemnitz.
Nathalie Senf worked with well-known stage directors like Elisabeth Stöppler, Jochen Biganzoli, David Hermann, Hinrich Horstkotte, Wolfgang Dosch and Sören Schumacher.
Her concert repertoire varies from Lieder and Mélodies to contemporary compositions. With orchestra she performed amongst others de Falla's Siete canciones populares espangolas, Berlioz' Les nuits d'été and Zemlinsky's Sechs Gesänge op. 13. Nathalie Senf appears in numerous compositions of the 20th an 21st century, including works by Moritz Eggert, John Adams, Peter Eötvös, Benjamin Britten, Arnold Schönberg, Victor Ullmann, Detlef Glanert and others. With the conductor Francesco Angelico she performed Ein Brief by Mauricio Kagel.
Since 2015 Nathalie Senf is part of the charming trio Frauenrausch that brings classical music from Lied to Opera and Operetta and Hits from early motion pictures in entertaining programs to divers audiences. She also places emphasis on musical and theatrical education for kids and teenagers.
