Young Danish mezzosoprano Nana Bugge Rasmussen began singing at an early age, joining the Childrens Choir of the Royal Danish Academy of Music. She began her studies at Universität der Künste, Berlin, later continued at The Royal Danish Academy of Music (RDAM), Copenhagen, with a.o. ass. Prof. Susanna Eken. She sings both opera, concert and lied and her repertoire ranges from the early music to the contemporary. In 2013 she graduated from RDAM and won the 3rd prize in the competition Concorso Internazionale Musica Sacra in Rome. In 2014 she won the 2nd prize at the competition Concours International de Chant Baroque de Froville. Also in 2014 she had her role-debut as Dido in Purcell's Dido and Aeneas in Bry-sûr-Marne, France. During her studies she performed as a soloist in opera and operetta in Denmark and Germany. She has performed several times at the Copenhagen Opera Festival, at the Festival de Baroque de Froville, Festival d'Opera Baroque de Beaune and Passage Festival (DK); she has appeared as a soloist with orchestras such as Kammerorchester Basel, Accademia Bizantina, Camerata Øresund, Malmö Opera Orkester, Le Capriccio Francais and Figura Ensemble and worked with conductors such as Andreas Scholl, Robert Reimer, Philippe Le Fèvre and Peter Spissky. In September 2017 she had her debut at the Royal Danish Opera, performing the lead role in Danish composer Nicolai Worsaae's opera Downfall, a performance equally praised by audience and critics. From July 2015 to 1st of January 2018 she was part of the programme ‘The Young Elite’, sponsored by the Danish Arts Foundation. A grant given to highly talented musicians with focus on building an international career. She speaks excellent German, French, Swedish and English and very good Italian.
