Monika Stefaniak studied Conducting in Poznań at the Paderewski Music Academy and Theory of Music at Chopin Music Academy in Warsaw. She graduated with distinction in Conducting in 2004 (under Prof. Jerzy Salwarowski) and continued education with Leonid Korchmar at the St. Petersburg State Conservatory till June 2005. She received her Doctorate in Conducting from the Academy of Music in Kraków in 2008.
In September 2011 Monika Stefaniak has got the Audience Award in International Conducting Competition in Chisinau (Moldavia).
Ms Stefaniak participated in many masterclasses and workshops with famous teachers and conductors. The principal ones being: the International Bartók Seminar's Conducting Course with Prof. Peter Eötvös (2009); 2. Internationalen Dirigierkurs with Sir Colin Davis (2003); the Internationale Bachakademie Krakau with Helmut Rilling (2003); and the Masterclass for Conductors with Gabriel Chmura in Katowice (2003).
From 2008 to 2016 Monika Stefaniak has been a lecturer with the Conducting Faculty at the Paderewski Music Academy in Poznań. From 2005 to 2009 she was Artistic Director of the Gdynia Symphonic Orchestra and from 2005 to 2007 Assistant Conductor in the Opera Bałtycka in Gdańsk. From 2007 to 2009 she was Artistic Director of Sinfonietta Gedanensis Youth Orchestra. She created and organized The Gdynia Masterclass for Conductors in 2007 and 2008 with Maestro Jerzy Salwarowski and The Gdynia Symphonic Orchestra.
She has performed with many Polish and foreign orchestras, including: Savaria Symphony Orchestra, The Congress Orchestra in St. Petersburg, Częstochowa Philharmonic Orchestra, Kalisz Philharmonic Orchestra, Szczecin Philharmonic Orchestra, Poznań Music Academy Orchestra and many others.
In 2005 Monika Stefaniak won a scholarship from the Italian Government for summer courses in Siena and a scholarship from the Polish Minister of Culture “For Distinguished Polish Artists of the Younger Generation”.
