Devon born mezzo-soprano Miranda Westcott read music at Birmingham University and studied performing on English National Opera's "the Knack" with Mary King, Rufus Norris, Maxine
Braham and Leah Hausman. She went on to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, where she graduated with distinction on the M.Mus course. Following this Miranda became a Samling Artist and was subsequently awarded a full scholarship at the Cardiff International Academy of Voice (now WIAV),which resulted in her being invited to perform in Jersey with Dame Kiri Te Kanawa.

Miranda made her debut at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, as Second Bridesmaid in Le nozze di Figaro under Sir Colin Davis. She went on to perform Glasha in Katya Kabanova under Sir Charles Mackerras and Jenny Diver in the Britten arrangement of The Beggar’s Opera in the Linbury Studio Theatre, which was also recorded for Chandos.

Other roles include Kate Pinkerton in Madame Butterfly at the Royal Albert Hall; Rossweise in Die Walker and Zweite Dame in Die Zauberflöte for Longborough Festival Opera; Suzuki in Madama Butterfly (Opera Project & London Festival Opera); La Source Médée and The Drummer The Kaiser of Atlantis (Opera Up Close); Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro for Surrey Opera and Olga in Eugene Onegin at Richmond Theatre.

Roles covered include Schwertleite Die Walküre, Geneviève Pelléas et Mélisande and Masha Queen of Spades (all for the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden); Smeaton Anna Bolena, Dorabella Così fan tutte and Wardrobe Mistress, Schoolboy and Bob Lulu (all for Welsh National Opera); Statira in Vivaldi’s L’incoronazione di Dario (Garsington Opera) and Wellgunde Das Rheingold
and Götterdämmerung (Longborough Festival Opera).

In concert, Miranda has appeared at the Wigmore Hall, in the Crush Room series ROH, The Sage Gateshead, Shakespeare’s Globe, Oxford Lieder Festival, St John’s Smith Square, The English Haydn Festival and Canterbury Cathedral, as well as private galas around Europe.

Engagements in the current season include, amongst others, Angel in Elgar’s Dream, covering Apprentice in ROH’s Meistersingers and her debut with York Musical Society.
