Bio

Miguel Gálvez Taroncher is one of Spain's most successful musicians internationally, winner of the Queen Elisabeth of Belgium Prize, the Prize of the College of Spain in Paris and Mexico Onyx Intercultural Award, among others. He is Honour Prize at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, where he studied conducting and composition with Pironkoff Simeon Uros Lajovic, Dietmar Schermann and Michael Jarrell. Very complete musician, has had a successful career as a pianist, notably in the field of correpetition and chamber music , with artists such as Patricia Kopatchinskaja, José Miguel Mico, Attila Pasztor , Ruth Rosique, Frano Kakarigi, Ana Huete , Carlos Gálvez, Esteban Espinosa, and many others, as the founder of Galvez & Classic Jazz Quartet , a group that debuted in the Manuel de Falla Auditorium in Granada, and as composer, being resident of the Orchestre des Jeunes de la Méditerranée and the Youth Orchestra of the Generalitat Valenciana and author of over 50 works that are already part of contemporary Spanish music scene. In 2015 he will conduct and premiere his first opera, El Segundo Viaje in the Teatros del Canal and the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid. Starting his professional maturity, Gálvez Taroncher develops his vocation as conductor, which provides his strong academic background that has been refined from the hand of maestro Manuel Galduf and his valuable musical experience and knowledge. As a director, he will conduct for the first time the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada (OCG) in September 2014, he has been for many years conductor of the Youth Orchestra of Cambrils and of the Youth Chamber Orchestra of Granada, he is principal guest conductor of the City Orchestra of Liria, has recently completed a concert tour with the Ensemble Onyx of Mexico, with great success, and has performed world premieres of works by authors such as Johannes Staud , Marcel Reuter and Enric Riu, among others , as well as his own works, and has been principal conductor of the choir Hilfgemeinschaft der Blinden in Vienna. He will debut with the prestigious Orquesta Ciudad de Granada in September 2014. He has collaborated with major orchestras and festivals like Granada City Orchestra, the Orchestra of Spanish Radio, Chamber Orchestra of the Auditorium of Zaragoza , Festival of Music and Dance of Granada , International Music Festival of Úbeda, Salzburger Festspiele , Bergen Festival, Wien Modern Festival , Religious Music Week in Cuenca, Canary Islands Music Festival , Festival Musicadhoy , Musicatreize Festival , Musical Olympus Festival in St. Petersburg and the International Piano Festival de la Roque d' Antheron , among many others. He has taught at prestigious universities around the world highlighting the Rey Juan Carlos de Madrid, the National Autonomous University of Mexico, the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya , the Royal Conservatory of Music in Granada, University National Centre of the Arts of Mexico and the University of La Laguna (Tenerife ), among others. Right now combines his musical activity with cultural management, another of his passions, having won 2nd place in the selection trials for the management director post of the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada.
