The German baritone Michael Rapke started his singing career as a soprano in the famous boys choir ‘Windsbacher Knabenchor’ in Southern Germany. Living two years in France he took voice lessons with Christiane Stutzmann at the Conservatory in Nancy. Then he followed his studies at the University of Arts in Berlin with Prof. Ute Treckel-Burckhardt till 2012. Several master classes with Eric Schneider, Wofram Rieger, Rudolf Piernay, Charlotte Lehmann, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Peter Kooij and furthermore with the King’s Singers and the Hilliard Ensemble enriched his musical experience and developed his ability to perform in a wide range of style from Baroque to Opera and from Lied to modern music.
In 2009 he made his opera debut with the contemporary opera ‘The Fall of the House of Usher’ by Philip Glass in a production of Achim Freyer for the Potsdamer Winteroper with the Kammerakademie Potsdam conducted by Michael Sanderling. Further opera engagements lead him to the Berliner Staatsoper as 'Basso Communardo' in Luigi Nonos 'Al gran sole carico d’amore' staged by Katie Mitchell under the direction of Ingo Metzmacher and as 'Herald' in 'Cendrillon' by Wolf-Ferrari. He sang several smallroles at the ‘Deutsche Oper Berlin’ such as a 'Flandrian Deputé' in Verdis 'Don Carlo', as 'Ridicule' in 'Love for the three Oranges'  by Prokofiev and in 2015 'Billy Jackrabbit' in 'La Fanciulla del West' by Puccini. In a Coproduction between the artist group ‘Nico and the Navigators’ an the ‘Deutsche Oper Berlin’ he sang the main male role in ‘Mahlermania’ at international Festivals in France and South-Korea. 
As soloist Michael Rapke sang internationally with ensembles such as the Lauttencompagney Berlin, Bombay Chamer Orchestra (India), Le Concert Lorrain and l’Orchestre de l’opéra de Rouen (France), the TIMF ensemble (South Korea), Magerburger Philharmoniker, the Brandenburger Symphoniker and the Staats- und Domchor Berlin. His oratorio repertory includes the the main works such as the passions by J.S. Bach, ‘The creation’ and ‘The Seasons’ by Haydn, ‘Elijah’ and ‘Paulus’ by Mendelssohn, ‘Carmina Burana’ by Orff and the ‘German Requiem’ by Brahms.
Michael Rapke integrated from 2015 to 2017 the ensemble of the Opera House in Halberstadt in Eastern Germany incorporing roles such as ‘Figaro’ in ‘The Barber of Sevilla’, ‘Gomez’ in ‘The Addams Family’, ‘Joe Gillis’ in ‘Sunset Boulevard’. As a guest he is actually as ‘Fred Graham / Petrucchio’ in ‘Kiss me, Kate’ by Cole Porterin Halberstadt. Further roles and productions such as ‘Count Danilo’ in ‘The Merry Widow’ and ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ are following this season.
