Canadian baritone Michael Adair, is a graduate of the Zürich International Opera studio where he performed Jupiter in Cavalli’s La Didone, Maestro di Casa in Andrea Chenier, Zalzal in L’Étoile, Guccio in Gianni Schicchi, Ben Budge in Britten’s The Beggar’s Opera and Jim in La Fancuilla del West under the batons of Nello Santi, Carlo Rizzi and Sir John Eliot Gardiner.
Other opera credits include Herr Fluth in Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor; Marcello in La Boheme, Betto/Il Notario in Gianni Schicchi, Starveling in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Elder Ott in Floyd’s Susannah, the title role in Pasatieri’s Signor Deluso and Alte Knurrhahn in the children's opera "Der Fischer und seine Frau" at the Cologne Opera.  
Most recently, Michael sang Gugliemo in Cosí fan tutte at the Teatro Comunale - Sulmona, Italy, Theaterdirektor/Bankier in Lulu at Opera Wuppertal, Slook in Rossini's La Cambiale di Matrimonio in Kaiserslautern.
He also appeared in a staged production of Petite Messe Solonnelle with Nico and the Navigators performing at Opera Comique, Kunstfest Weimar, Bregenzer Festspiele, Opera Dijon and Radialsystem Berlin.  
In the concert hall, Michael is known as an elegant interpreter of Bach.  He has given concerts at Carnegie Hall, the Berliner Philharmonie, the Liederhalle Stuttgart and the Cologne Philharmonie and has collaborated with organizations such as the Rotterdam Philharmonic, Cappella Amsterdam, the Nürnberg Symphoniker, The Brussels Choral Society, Freiburger Bachchor, Philharmonischer Chor Köln, The Toronto Mendelssohn Choir, Gürzenich-Orchester,  Bach-Collegium Stuttgart, the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen, Cappella Augustina, the Gächinger Kantorei, the Heidelberger Sinfoniker and conductors Daniel Reuss, Helmuth Rilling and Andreas Spering. 
Regularly performing Matthäus Passion, Johannes Passion, Weihnachts Oratorium and the masses and cantatas of Bach, his repertoire also includes Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem, Charpentier’s Te Deum, Haydn’s Die Schöpfung, Berlioz’s L’enfance du Christ, Frank Martin’s In terra pax, Mendelssohn’s Paulus, Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis and rarities by C.H Graun, CPE Bach, and Vivaldi.
In addition to Handel’s major choral works, Michael is also often engaged for English repertoire such as Britten’s War Requiem, Vaughan Williams’ Sea Symphony, Fantasia on Christmas Carols and Michael Tippett’s A Child of Our Time.
Recent engagements include, his debut in the Czech republic singing Bach's Mass in B minor (one to a part) with Musica Floria, a concert and recording of Zelenka's "Psalmi Vespertini II" with Ensemble Inegal, and Alexander's Feast at the Berliner Philharmonie with the Berliner Oratorien-chor and his Danish debut singing Messiah with the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra.
Michael has recorded an album of Baroque music by Dutch composer Markus Teller with Studium Chorale and Ensemble Agimont and has had various other performances broadcast on Westdeutscher Rundfunk.
A graduate from the University of Toronto School of Music with a Bachelor of Music and a diploma in operatic performance, Michael was also a fellow at the Banff Centre and toured Europe three times as a member of Helmuth Rilling’s Festival Ensemble Stuttgart.
