Bio


MATTHEW TANSLEY STIFF studied music at the University of Huddersfield where he received a BMus and MA in performance. He went on to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where he took the Postgraduate Diploma in vocal training and then the Opera Course from which he graduated with distinction in 2011. He has received scholarships from The Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths, a Maidment Scholarship administered by the Musicians Benevolent Fund and Wingate Scholarship Foundation. He studies with John Evans.

On the concert platform performances include Mozart REQUIEM at the Royal Festival Hall, Handel MESSIAH at St Martin in the Fields, Mendelssohn ELIJAH with the Llanelli Choral Society, Haydn NELSON MASS and Beethoven 9th SYMPHONY at St Paul’s Hall and Karl Jenkins ARMED MAN at St. Albans Cathedral.

Engagements in the 2016/17 include a return to English Touring Opera as the Sacristan in TOSCA, and English National Opera covering the roles of Theatre Manager and Bank Manager in LULU along side the world premier of PUSH by Howard Moody for Glyndebourne and the Battle Festival.
