Bio

Lyric baritone Matthew Christoff is a recent graduate of the Masters of Music, Voice and Opera program at the University of Florida, and is from the studio of Dr. Elizabeth Graham.  He hails from Wisconsin, and earned his Bachelors of Music there at Saint Norbert College under the tutelage of Dr. Michael Rosewall.  In the summer of 2015, Mr. Christoff had his operatic debut as Count Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro with Lyric Opera Studio Weimar in Germany.  Most recently, he sang Marcello in La Bohéme produced by UF Opera Theatre in the Spring of 2016, and the role of King Melchior in Amahl and the Nightvisitors with the Gainesville Civic Chorus.  He also appeared as Raoul in The Phantom of the Opera with Opera Theater UF in the spring of 2015.  In addition to theatrical performances, Mr. Christoff sings in liturgical and secular choirs, and cantors for churches in Florida and Wisconsin.  He has sung the baritone solos in Schubert’s Mass in G with the Gainesville Civic Chorus, various solos with the UF Concert Choir, participated in a historic performance of Handel’s Messiah with Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, and has been a seasonal cantor for the Fraters of Saint Norbert Abbey.  He has also performed internationally, including the opening chant of Franz Biebl’s Ave Maria with The Voices of Orpheus at the 2014 Corpacoros International Choral Festival in Colombia.  Outside of vocal performance, Mr. Christoff is active in music archiving, digitization, and analog media preservation.
