Bio


The Lirico-Leggero Tenor Matteo Bagni was born in Empoli (Florence) and began his studies at the age of 14, studying operetta, musical and acting. From 2003 to 2004 he won the Second Price in the new competition "Notti Magiche" in Florence and the Critics' Award in the competition "Millenote" in Livorno.
He studied opera, operetta and sacred music with Maestro Graziano Polidori at Conservatorio "P. Mascagni" in Livorno  from 2006 till 2011, when he obtained his Master of Music with full marks. Then he began singing studies with Soprano Maria Billeri and voice and musical interpretation with Mayumi Kuroki and Nicola Mottaran.
In 2014 he won the european scholarship "Working With Music" and he moved to Vienna till 2016, where he continued his education with some teachers of the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst as Martin Vacha (voice), Christoph Meier ( musical interpretation and acting) and Masaaki Saito (musical interpretation). Actually he continues to improve his musical attitude in Vienna with the italian conductor Alessandro Pagliazzi and Professor Niels Muus, while in Italy with Mayumi Kuroki and Maria Billeri.
In November 2016 he became part of the ensemble of the first stage of the opera "Il Cappello di Paglia di Firenze" by N. Rota.
In 2005 he had his debut of the roles Don Basilio and Don Curzio from "Le Nozze di Figaro" by W.A.Mozart in the Festival of Music in San Miniato (Florence); in 2008 he was Rinaldo from "Il Filosofo di Campagna" by B. Galuppi in Florence; in 2010 he was Don Ramiro from "La Cenerentola" by G. Rossini in Palazzo Reale in Pisa and in Theater of Grosseto. He sang as Tenore in the G-Dur Messe by F. Schubert in Livorno and Lucca; in 2011 he sang the Oratorium "Maria Spes Desperantium" by S. Pieruccini in Lucca and in Santa Maria Sanctuary in Montenegro (Livorno); in 2012 he had his debut in the role of Paolino from "Il Matrimonio Segreto" by D. Cimarosa in Livorno. In 2014 he sang as Tenore "Kantate n°18 BWV" of J.S. Bach in Livorno and the roles of Fracasso and Don Polidoro from "La Finta Semplice" by W.A.Mozart in Livorno and Lucca. In 2016 he had his debut as Nemorino from "L'Elisir d'Amore" by G. Donizetti in Agostiniani Courtyard in Empoli, as Cleo de Merodé from the operetta "Sì" by P. Mascagni in Villa Trossi in Livorno and as Grillo from the opera "Pinocchio" by Natalia Valli in Teatro Goldoni in Livorno with the conductor Jacopo Sipari, stage director Renato Bonajuto and the Festival Pucciniano Orchestra. In 2017 he had his debut in the Gran Teatro G. Puccini in Torre del Lago in the opera " Pinocchio" by Natalia Valli in the role of Grillo with the conductor Mauro Roveri, stage director Renato Bonajuto and the Festival Pucciniano Orchestra. In 2017 he sang the role of Remendado from "Carmen" by G. Bizet in the Politeama Theater in Prato.
In 2018 he continues his collaboration with the Gran Teatro G. Puccini in Torre del Lago with the opera "Pinocchio" by Natalia Valli as Grillo.
From 2018 he collaborates with Vox Artis Wien of Theodore Coresi and takes part to the Opera " Le Nozze di Figaro" by W.A.Mozart as Basilio and Don Curzio in Teatrul de Arta in Deva (Romania) and For the Festival Hunedoara (Romania).
From 2006 to 2017 he took part in several concerts of opera and sacred music in Italy, among them in Hotel Palazzo in Livorno, in Politeama Theater for Shakespeare tribute and for the New Voices Concert. In Vienna he sang in the Auditorium Gewerkschaft Öffentlicher Dienst for the Christmas Concert of Dante Alighieri Gesellschaft, in Pfarrkirche St. Thekla, in Festsaal Bezirksmuseum Josefstadt and in the big hall of Dante Alighieri Gesellschaft.
