Bio

Marijo Krnić (1980) was born in Split, Croatia. He graduated solo singing in 2011 at the Art Academy, University of Split, Croatia, with Professor Nelli Manuilenko. He finished four-year undergraduate studies of solo singing in 2010, with same professor. He graduated in 2003 at the Department of music pedagogy at the Arts Academy, University of Split, Croatia, under the mentorship of Professor Vlado Sunko. He earned his Master&rsquos degree (M.Sc.) in 2008 at the Department of music theory and composition at the Music Academy, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, under the mentorship of Professor Marko Vatovec. He is PhD student of Pedagogy at the Faculty of Science and Education, University of Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Since 2004 he is the Assistant at the Department of primary education at the Faculty of philosophy, University in Split, since 2010 he is the Assistant at Department of singing at Arts Academy, University of Split and he also worked as a music teacher from 2003 to 2008. He founded and was art director of number of vocal ensembles and won several prizes at national and international competitions as a choir conductor. At the 24th Concorso internazionale di musica vocale da camera in Città di Conegliano (Italy) in July 2010 he won first prize. At the 15th Concorso internazionale di canto solistico "C. A. Seghizzi" in Gorizia (Italy) in July 2009 he won the second prize, at the 13th Solo singers competition “Nikola Cvejić” in Ruma (Serbia) in November 2010 he won a second prize (first was not awarded) and at 5th International competition of solo singers “Bruna Špiler” in Herceg Novi (Montenegro) in March 2012 he won a second prize. Croatian Society of Music Artists awarded him the prestigious Diploma Darko Lukić in 2012. He improves his musical knowledge and skills in a number of seminars for singing (R. Pospiš-Baldani, P. de Napoli, V. Vanjejev, V. Marof, V. Rosetta, M. Kenzee, N. Enns, J. Blakely) and choral conducting (M. Nilsson, R. Rasmussen). Regularly participates in projects of National Opera House in Split, Croatia. He has given many concerts at home and abroad (France, Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia). He is president of Jeunesses Musicales Split.
