Biography

Marija Čuposka is a soprano based in Belgrade, Serbia. Upon graduating from the Faculty of Philology in Belgrade, she continued her music studies at the Belgrade Faculty of Music in the class of prof. Nikola Kitanovski (tenor) where she completed her Bachelor studies. So far, as a music student, she has had a prolific concert activity. As a soloist, in 2015, she performed Bach’s Magnificat with the Serbian Radio Symphony Orchestra (RTS), conducted by maestro Bojan Suđić. Later, in 2016, she performed Faure’s Requiem with the Serbian Radio Symphony Orchestra (RTS) conducted by maestro Vladimir Kranjčević (Croatia). From 2015-present she has been invited to participate in a series of concerts organized by the Ars Creativa Association and thus collaborate with maestra Vesna Šouc by performing the operatic repertoire in the renowned Kolarac Music Hall in Belgrade. She has also performed French repertoire on the Franco-phony Festival in Belgrade (2016,2017). She is a member of the Theater of Musicals on Terazije in 2017 where she is engaged in a couple of productions including the Phantom of the Opera musical. Furthermore, in 2017-2018, she has been one of the young aspiring soloists accompanied by the Music Academy Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of maestro Bojan Suđić. Her concert activity also includes performances in the Belgrade Philharmonic Hall as well as on the stage of the National Theater in Belgrade. So far, as a soloist, she has been awarded with scholarships for the Festival of Russian Music (2013,2015) “Boljšoj”, as well as for the “Festival of Youth in Sochi” (Russia, 2017) where she performed Russian operatic and art song repertoire. As a student of music and classical singing, she has expanded her views on music and style in Austria (Gmunden) where she, as a scholarship winner, worked on her Baroque repertoire at the Austrian Baroque Academy. What’s more, she has attended the masterclasses and worked on her opera repertoire with some eminent singers such as Biserka Cvejić, David Bižić, Nikola Mijailović, Darina Takova, Susanne Ryden. In November 2017, she was the winner of the Laureate award at the International Competition “Nikola Cvejić”, as well as the winner of  Biserka Cvejic's  annual award for her recent achievements. As a result, she has established a collaboration with the National Theater in Novi Sad (Serbia) for the upcoming season. Her latest  significant engagements as a soloist include the performance of Schubert’s Mass No. 5 by the Serbian Radio Symphony Orchestra and Choir (RTS) in February 2018 under the baton of maestro Suđić, the concert with the Music Academy Symphony Orchestra in April 2018, as well as the Opera Gala Concert with the Opera of Novi Sad (Serbia) in June 2018 under the baton of maestro Gianluca Marciano.
