Swedish soprano Marieke Wikesjo graduated from the Vienna Conservatory, Austria (Konservatorium der Stadt Wien) and went on to study with renowned singers Laura Sarti, Wally Salio and Stefano Anselmi. In possession of a versatile voice and firmly rooted in the Italian belcanto tradition she has been praised for her portraits of heroines such as Cio-cio San (Madama Butterfly, Opera na Zamku, Stettin, Poland), Leonora (Il Trovatore, Pergine Spettacolo Aperto, Pergine, Italy) and Violetta (La Traviata, Tiroler Festspiele/Stadtheater Sterzing, Sterzing, Italy /Pergine Spettacolo Aperto, Pergine, Italy).In addition to opera Marieke is active as a concert and oratorio singer, with concerts in Germany, Scandinavia, Austria and Italy, the repertoire ranging from Rossini to R.
