Born and raised in Bulgaria, soprano Mariana Zvetkova began her career singing the lead roles in Il Trovatore, Aida, and Tannhäuser. Her career has taken her to La Scala, Munich State Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, TokyoNational Theater, Lyon National Orchestra, Radio France, Semper Oper in Dresden, and Teatro Minicipal in Rio de Janeiro among others. She has worked alongside acclaimed conductors and stage directors such as Giuseppe Sinopoli, Johanes Schaaf, Willie Anthony Waters, Stefan Soltez, Ivan Torcz, Plamen Kartaloff, Nayden Todorov, Hugo de Ana, Luca Ronconi, Phillip Arlaud, Paul Curran, Peter Konvichni, and Juanjo Mena. Under the baton of Maestro Giuseppe Sinopoli, Zvetkova recorded Dvorak’s Stabat Mater with Deutsche Gramophone, which was nominated for a Grammy in 2002. She has also recorded Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with Radio France conducted by Eugenie Svetlanov, excerpts from Rachmaninoff’s Francesca da Rimini and Aleko with Naxos Records, and Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 with Radio Sofia Orchestra. Among the many competitions Zvetkova hasparticipated in, she won The Grand Prix of The International Competition in Toulouse in 1998, A Laureate at the Queen Elisabeth Voice Competition in Brussels in 1996 and 2nd Prize at The Puccini Foundation Competition in New York City in 1999. She has also received numerous grants and awards in the United States from the Olga Forrai Foundation, The Singers Development Foundation, The Gerda Lissner Foundation,The Sullivan Foundation, and the Crystal Lira for her achievements as Brünnhilde in Der Ring des Nibelungen by Richard Wagner.Her recent repertoire includes the roles of Turandot, Maddalena (Andrea Chenier), Ariadne (Ariadne auf Naxos), Elisabeth (Tannhäuser), Santuzza (La Cavalleria  rusticana), Fricka (Der Ring des Nibelungen), Ortrude (Lohengrin), Brangenne (Tristan und Isolde), Leonora (Fidelio), Amneris (Aida), Eboli (Don Carlos).Zvetkova is a Doktor of Music. She holds degrees from the Academy of Music in Sofia, Bulgaria, The Academy of Arts and Culture in Rome, Italy and The Indiana University, USA.
