Bio

Álvaro Tinjacá-Bedoya studied vocal performance in Bogota (Colombia), and pursued further studies under Viennese baritone Georg Nigl at the Hochschule für Musik Stuttgart, Germany. He has developed an intense artistic activity in that country since 2014.
As a soloist, he has been invited by Concertino Schleswig-Holstein, Preussisches Kammerorchester (Potsdam), Johann Fasch Ensemble (Halle), Kammerchor Musikhochschule Lübeck, Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra (Israel) and Ensamble Musica Amable (Bogota). He is also a member of Vocalensemble Rastatt, conducted by Holger Speck.
He has performed at the Deutsche Chorsfestival, the Podium Festival (Esslingen), the 93rd Bachfest in Tübingen and the fringe programme of the Festival Oude Muziek (Utrech). As an opera singer, he has interpreted Fernando in Rodrigo (conductor: Jörg Halubek), Ottone in Agrippina (Internationale Händel-Akademie Karlsruhe) and Bertarido in Rodelinda (Willhelma Theater Stuttgart).
Masterclasses with Dame Emma Kirkby, the countertenors Andreas Scholl and Robin Blaze and the Masterkurs of the Bach Institut Leipzig have strengthened his interest and knowledge of baroque vocal repertoire. In June 2018 he was invited by Phillipe Jaroussky as applicant to his Académie Jeunes Talents.
Two recordings for Edition Weissenburg:“Songs of Love and Night” (2018) and Händel’s Messiah (2018) in Hebrew to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the creation of Israel State – together with the Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra, showcase his vocal prowess.
