Praised by “Das Opernglas” as “a bell-clear soprano at the highest vocal and dramatic level”, soprano Lesia Mackowycz continues to impress and delight audiences with an extraordinary blend of sparkling voice, powerful stage presence and innate musicality. Following a course of academic distinction, Ms. Mackowycz has been continuously, and notably engaged in theatres around the world singing major roles within the coloratura fach. Highlights of her repertoire extend to such roles as, Sophie, in “Der Rosenkavalier”, Königin der Nacht, in “Die Zauberflöte” and, Blonde, in “Die Entführung aus dem Serail,” a role she has now performed to the delight of audiences and critics over forty times. As a soloist ensemble member at the Oper Kiel and the Statdttheater Hildesheim, Ms. Mackowycz has accumulated over 50 roles to her diverse repertoire. She has not only been celebrated for her quality of sound but also for her astounding stage presence in such rolls as: Gretel, Adele, Olympia, Musetta, Rosina and Ännchen. Most recently Ms. Mackowycz has been seen as the unflappable Eliza Doolittle in “My Fair Lady” – a role inwhich Opernwelt stated she was simply “magical”. Ms. Mackowycz has also guested at the Hamburg State Opera, the Eutiner Festspielen and the Chorin Music Summer, as well as, the opera houses in Shanghai, Toronto, Montreal, Bremen, Bielefeld, Gottingen, and Osanabrück. As a concert artist the coloratura soprano continues to perform recitals and work with symphonies in Europe, China, U.S.A. and Canada, in particular, with the renowned Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and Toronto Symphony Orchestra. A notable collaboration with the TSO and Oscar winning acting legend Christopher Plummer resulted in a Canadian Juno Award in classical performance for the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.
The award winning artist is likewise at home with music from the contemporary to the avant-garde wherein the enormous capabilities of her voice, her intense stage presence and musicality have been celebrated worldwide.  She has appeared in numerous world premieres such as Reinhard Febel's three scenes---“Frida,” “Das Gespensterhaus” and “Raum 17”.  At the renowned MUNICH BIENNALE, she interpreted the leading role in Marton Illes' “Die weisse Fustin. At the Hamburg State Opera, Ms. Mackowycz performed the female lead of Stephanie in their production “S.C.H.A.S.” (Schedl). Most recently in 2015, Ms. Mackowycz sparked much enthusiasm and international acclaim for her interpretation of the title role in Toshio Hosokawa's, “Matsukaze”.  In addition to her strong interest in contemporary opera, Ms. Mackowycz has a special interest in baroque and renaissance music. As such, she has interpreted the role of, Daphne, in a recording of Jacaopo Peri's opera “Euridice” and has worked with early music experts such as Ruben Dubrovsky, Eduardo Lopez Banzo, Reinhard Goebel, and Nicholas McGegan. Further roles in the baroque repertoire include: Morgana in “Alcina”, Poppea, in “Agrippina”, Amor in “Il incoronazione di Poppea”, Belinda in “Dido and Aeneas”, and Anne in the rarely performed opera “Didon” (Demarest).

Her vocal awards include the 20th Century Music Prize (journees de la musique Francaise), N.A.T.S. first prize winner, and the prestigious top grant from the Canada Council for the Arts awards to musicians.
