Bio

Lena Kutzner has been part of the ensemble of the Landestheater Neustrelitz since the 2013/14 season. Over the past few years there, she has sung, for example, Angelina in “La Cenerentola“, Suzuki in “Madame Butterfly“ , Nancy in Flotow’s “Martha“, Hänsel in “Hänsel und Gretel” and Donna Elvira in “Don Giovanni“.
Her current vocal coach is Gundula Hintz. This summer, she is going to sing the part of Margarethe in Gounod’s “Faust”, thus performing in her first role as a soprano. In the upcoming season, she is going to debut as Nedda in Ruggero Leoncavallo’s “I Pagliacci“.

From 1999 to 2007, she was part of the Mädchenchor Hannover, where she received her first vocal training under Professor Gudrun Schröfel.
She was also able to gain valuable experience as a solo singer, as can be seen in a number of CD recordings (one example of which is the 2011 premiere of “Didos Geheimnis”, an opera by Andreas Tarkmann that he solely composed for the choir; she sang the role of Anna.

Lena Kutzner studied classical singing at the Musikhochschule Hannover, where Professor Carol Richardson-Smith became her vocal mentor. Under Professor Justus Zeyen, she was able to perfect her skills as an interpreter of songs.

In 2009, she made her debut as Dorabella in Mozart’s “Cosí fan tutte” at the Braunschweig Cassix- Festival. Numerous other engagements followed: she sang Hermia in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” by Benjamin Britten, Nancy in “Albert Herring”, also by Benjamin Britten, Nicklausse in “Hoffmanns Erzählungen” and 3. Dame and Papagena in Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte” (The
Magic Flute).

In the course of the past few years, she has added to her already comprehensive repertory and she has also given a number of concerts, not just in Germany, but also abroad (including a concert tour in China).
