Bio

The Swiss-born Mezzosoprano was award winner of several International Vocal Competitions; she was nominated 'young singer of the year' in renowned Opera Magazine 'Opernwelt' critics poll 2011 for her interpretation of 'La Cenerentola'.

Apart from that role, in her first Opera engagement at the Aachen Theatre she sang for instance Mrs Quickly, Suzuki and Ljubov in Tchaikowsky's Mazeppa. She then became part of the Staatstheater Nuremberg Ensemble, where she debuted as Carmen, Magdalene in Wagner's Meistersinger, Dorabella, Hédwige in Rossini's Guillaume Tell; Erda and Waltraute in Nuremberg’s new production of Wagner’s Ring and Ulrica (Ballo in maschera) at the Coburg Landestheater.
Since 2015 she is a freelancer, with guest contracts at Staatstheater Mainz, Oper Halle and Staatstheater Nürnberg a.o.

Apart from Opera, Leila Pfister is dedicated to a Concert Repertoire spreading from Renaissance to contemporary composers; and especially her Art Song recitals have been very well-acclaimed.

Several CD- and DVD-productions are documenting her artistic profile, the latest example being a CD with songs by Ludwig Thuille for Label Capriccio (Release 2015), with Hartmut Höll on the piano.
