Lazaro Calderón, has established his presence in the operatic and concert stages around Europe and around  the world. His prestigious Carnegie Hall debut in Haydn's "Mass in the Time of War" and his Lincoln Center debut of the "Mozart Requiem" at Avery Fisher Hall were both met with great success and marked the beginning of his career.Calderón won the prize for Best Italian Aria at the Puerto Rico District Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. In 2010, he was a finalist at the  annual NYLOT competition. Calderón’s repertory includes Duca di Mantua (Rigoletto), Des Grieux (Manon), Rodolfo (La Bohème), Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor) Romeo (Romeo et Juliette), Alfred (Die Fledermaus), Don Jose (Carmen), 

Tebaldo (I Capuleti e I Montecchi), Steuermann (Der Fliegende Holländer), as well as Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly). Other roles in his repertoire include Ruggero in “La Rondine” which he performed at Sarasota Opera, and the role of Don Luis de Haro in the Zarzuela “El Barberillo de Lavapies” which he premiered in Puerto Rico. The art of the zarzuela is a passion Mr. Calderón dedicates himself to regularly in concerts, winning the hearts of audiences in his home country and abroad. In 2012, Lázaro Calderón earned great accolades after his debut in San Jose, California, with Opera Bravura. He also earned rave reviews for the role of Riccardo Percy in “Anna Bolena” with Opera in the Heights in Houston. One critic wrote: “…one of the purest, most brilliant tenor voices working today.”(The Houston Chronicle, January 2012). After his “Il Trovatore” debut as Manrico (March 2012), the Houston Press thought: “His Act III pièce de résistance, the stirring "Di quella pira" rang through Lambert Hall like the most radiant claxon call. Throughout his career Mr. Calderón has worked with renowned directors and singers such as Marcello Giordani, Tito Capobianco, Anthony Laciura and Michael Scarola.He has collaborated with conductors Steven Crawford, Victor DeRenzi, Enrique Patron de Rueda and Willie Anthony Waters. Most recently, Mr. Calderón shared the Carnegie Hall stage with tenor, Jonas Kaufmann, and soprano, Angela Gheorghiu in a production of Adriana Lecouvreur. 2012 Calderón was invited to sing the role of Camille de Rosillon in the Teatro de La Opera in Puerto Rico in a production of Lehar’s “The Merry Widow”.  In the fall of the same year Mr. Calderón joined Opera in the Heights once more for “I Capuleti e i Montecchi” in the role of Tebaldo. Calderón began his 2013 schedule with an arias concert in Cologne, Germany.  In the summer he gave his European debut as Duca in “Rigoletto” with the South Bohemian Opera at the Cesky Krumlov Festival. A further debut and welcome addition to the young tenor’s repertoire was the role of Turiddu in “Cavalleria Rusticana” in Budweis, Czech Republic.In February 2014 he was invited to Budweis, adding the role of Don José to his french repertoire, with Maestro Mario De Rose conducting the South bohemian Orchestra. In July 2014, he gave his debut in the title role of Turiddu in the United States, at Maryland Lyric Opera. January 2015 Mr. Calderón made his house debut at the Prague National Theatre, Czech Republic, again in the verismo opera, “Cavalleria Rusticana”. The Cesky Krumlov Festival invited Mr. Calderón back that summer to sing Don José in Carmen.In September 2015 he enriched his French repertoire singing the dramatic role of Faust in Gounod’s at the Theater Nordhausen, Germany, which he has already invited to reprise for the 2017-18 season of the Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater Schwerin.
