Lauren Easton is a Mezzo Soprano from Sydney, Australia. As a versatile musician and performer she has sung as a soloist and ensemble member on prestigious stages around the world covering genres from Baroque to contemporary Classical, to Musical Theatre and Gospel.   The various awards Lauren has received to date include the 2001 Sony Foundation Music Scholarship in conjunction with the University of New South Wales School of Music, the 2006 Australian Singing Competition Goethe Institut Prize for German Studies, the Sydney Omega Ensemble Prize as their 2007 guest artist and the David Harper Coaching Prize to be held in either Sydney or London, first place in the 2008 Friends of the State Opera SA Inc. Aria Competition, the Nino Sanciolo Memorial Scholarship, Audience Choice and the ABC Classic FM Recording prize for Melbourne's 2007 Mietta Song Recital Awards, the Australian International Opera Awards scholarship for 2009-2011, Opus 50 Charitable Trust Grant and Saltzer Grant to study in Wales with Dennis O’Neill, an Australian Music Foundation Awards Scholarship for 2010, and a Marten Bequest Travelling Scholarship for 2013/14.   In 2007 Lauren was invited to perform with the Australian Pops Orchestra in Melbourne’s Hamer Hall for their “Bernstein and Friends” gala concert, conducted by Warwick Stengards. Throughout 2008 and 2009 Lauren was the full-time Mezzo-Soprano for the Song Company, Australia's premier 6 voice vocal ensemble, performing extensively within Australia and internationally. In 2009 while studying in Cardiff she performed at the Wales Millennium Centre as a soloist in the Connect4Chorus project and other concert events, as a soloist for Cantemus Chamber Choir, for the Welsh National Assembly, and was a semi-finalist for the 2009 Covent Garden Jette Parker Auditions. In August 2010 Lauren was the Mezzo soloist for the Beethoven 9th Symphony performed at the World Expo in Shanghai, China.   During her first contract with the 2011 Glyndebourne Festival Opera as a chorister and cover, Lauren made her international stage debut as “Magdalena” in the new production of Wagner’s Die Meistersinger Von Nürnberg on June 10th. In September 2011 Lauren began studies at the Wales International Academy of Voice and in 2012 was awarded her Masters in Advanced Vocal Studies. In the same year Lauren appeared with Glyndebourne Festival as a principal artist in Julian Phillips' The Yellow Sofa, then reprised her role as “Amarella” for the 2012 Tour. After being awarded an Exceptional Talent Visa for the UK, in 2013 Lauren returned to the Festival to cover the role of “Dryad” in GFO’s new production of Ariadne auf Naxos. She went on to perform for the Tour as the “Sandman” for Hansel and Gretel while covering the title role of Britten’s Rape of Lucretia, as well as joining the chorus for L’Elisir d’amore.   Last year Lauren performed as “Flora Bervoix” in Glyndebourne’s new production of La Traviata - second cast during the Festival, and taking on the role for the Tour. This year she understudied the “Bat” and “Chair” in Glyndebourne’s L’enfant et les sortilèges, while joining the chorus for Handel’s Saul and Mozart’s Entfhurung. Lauren is now UK based and currently studies with Dinah Harris in London.
