Bio

Laila Salome Fischer, born in Berlin in 1989, received her first vocal coaching at the age of eight years and gained her first stage experiences at Berlin' Komische Oper Children's Chorus, where she was a soloist in performances conducted by Yakov Kreizberg and Vladimir Jurowski.   From 1999 until 2006, Laila Salome Fischer was a Youth Student at Julius-Stern-Institut of Universität der Künste Berlin in Jutta Schlegel's vocal class and immediately after her A-levels in 2006, enrolled her vocal studies at Universität der Künste Berlin with Julie Kaufmann, which she will graduate in the summer of 2012 singing the title role in Cavalli's La Calisto. While still at school, she was awarded with First Prizes at Jugend Musiziert Competition/Germany, First Prize at the Deutsche Bahn Competition/Germany and in 2007 she won a scholarship of the "Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe" (YMFE). Since October 2010, she has held a scholarship of the Bischöfliche Studienstiftung Cusanus-Werk.   Also while at school, Laila Salome Fischer performed with members of the Berlin Philharmonic (2003) and the Brandenburgische Staatsorchester Frankfurt under the baton of Heribert Beissel and Mihkel Kütson and sang in concerts in Germany, Spain, Belgium and Switzerland. In 2000, she recorded Clothilde in Henze's "Pollicino" with Berlin's Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester under the baton of Jobst Liebrecht which was awarded an Echo Klassik 2004. In 2010, Sony released a recording of a Benefit Concert "Berlin für Haiti", with Laila Salome Fischer as soloist. Laila Salome Fischer has given recitals in Barcelona, Berlin, Brussels and Zurich. In 2010, Laila Salome Fischer made her debut at the Potsdam Music Festival as Erissena in Carl-Heinrich Graun's Montezuma conducted by Sergio Azzolini and Geoffrey Layton and revived this part in June 2012. As well in 2012 she made her debut at Deutsche Oper Berlin. In 2011 she made her debut at the Festa di San Francesco in Assi in a world premiere Il cigno nero e la fanciulla sulla falce lunare singing the title role and in July 2013 she made her debut at the Bregenzer Festspiele in Mozart's Zauberflöte. 2013/2014 Laila performes the roles of Queen of the night and Eliza Doolittle at Landestheater Neustrelitz. In 2015 she will make her debut there as Donna Anna and at Staatstheater Cottbus as Alcina (Händel). This year she jumped in at Deutsche Oper Berlin as Evita in "LoveAffairs" and at Hamburger Symphoniker as Bastienne. She started the season 2014/2015 at Komische Oper Berlin as Galatée in Lully's "Acis et Galatée" (Concert Version). Laila Salome Fischer enjoys being part in historic performances and worked with artists including Raphael Alpermann, Sergio Azzolini, Stephan Mai and Armin Thalheim. The young soprano is a member of Raphael Alpermann's directed Ensemble Concerto+14, which won her a scholarship in the Early Music category by the Deutsche Musikwettbewerb 2012. The Bach-Colegio Paraguay invited her for concerts and for giving a masterclass.
